It’s National Public Health Week — and here in Milford, public health works because of community support. 💚

Every day, the Milford Health Department is working behind the scenes to keep our community safe and healthy. From restaurant and housing inspections, beach water monitoring, and mosquito control… to school nursing, immunization clinics, community health programming, emergency preparedness, and health education — our work touches residents of all ages.

These initiatives succeed because of strong partnerships with our residents, businesses, schools, and community organizations. When you attend a clinic, follow public health guidance, participate in programs, or share important health information, you are helping strengthen public health in Milford.

Public health works — when we support it. 🤝

🩺 National Public Health Week Spotlight: Public Health & School Nursing Division

Behind the scenes and in our schools every day, our Public Health & School Nursing Division is supporting the health and safety of the Milford community—especially our students.

From community immunization clinics and disease outbreak management to on-call vaccination support, homebound flu vaccination services, and employee health programs, our public health nurses and volunteer nurses provide care across the lifespan.

In our schools, nurses play a critical role by:
🏫 Supporting thousands of students in 16 schools
👂 Conducting mandated vision, hearing, and postural screenings
💊 Administering daily and emergency medications
📋 Managing chronic conditions like asthma, diabetes, allergies, and more
🤝 Coordinating case management to keep students safe and ready to learn

Together, these services add up to tens of thousands of student health encounters each year—ensuring healthy schools and a healthier Milford.

Thank you to our dedicated nurses and volunteer nurses for the compassionate, essential work you do every day! 💙

🌎 It’s National Public Health Week, and we’re shining a light on the often unseen work of the Milford Health Department’s Environmental Health Division.

Behind the scenes, our Registered Sanitarians are out in the community every day protecting public health — inspecting restaurants, reviewing septic systems, conducting safe housing inspections, and supporting vector control and mosquito prevention programs. Their work helps ensure the places we live, eat, and gather remain safe for everyone.

As beach season approaches, our sanitarians will also be back out at Milford’s beaches collecting water samples as part of our Beach Monitoring Program. This important work helps ensure safe swimming waters for residents and visitors throughout the summer.

The Environmental Health Division plays a vital role in keeping Milford healthy — even when you don’t always see it. Thank you to our team for the essential work you do every day!

It’s National Public Health Week — and we’re proud to highlight the incredible work of the Community Health Division at the Milford Health Department! 🌟

Behind the scenes, our team is busy planning, coordinating, and hosting informational health programs that help keep Milford residents informed, safe, and supported. Through strong partnerships with local organizations and community groups, we’re able to bring meaningful outreach, trainings, and wellness initiatives directly to our community. 🤝

One great example is happening tomorrow — our Save‑A‑Life Day. Join us for a free Narcan training where you can refresh your skills or learn how to respond to an overdose. Attendees will also receive free Narcan while supplies last. This event will be held on Wednesday from 4–5 PM at Milford United Way.

Working together with our community partners, we’re building a healthier Milford — one event, one collaboration, and one conversation at a time. 💙
