Today, Mayor Giannattasio has proclaimed Friday, August 22, 2025 as Nurse Joan Braun Day in Milford—a well-deserved honor for an extraordinary member of our team and community.

For 24 years, Nurse Joan has cared for Milford’s children in our schools and devoted her summers to supporting kids with special needs at Camp Happiness. Most recently, she extended her compassion globally, traveling to Ukraine with Global Care Force to provide medical aid in war-affected communities.

Joan’s dedication, courage, and compassion inspire us all. 💙 We are so proud to call her one of our own—thank you, Nurse Joan, for everything you do for Milford! 👩‍⚕️👏

🌟 Today is Nurse Joan Braun Day in Milford! 🌟

Mayor Giannattasio has officially proclaimed Friday, August 22, 2025 as Nurse Joan Braun Day in honor of a truly extraordinary member of our community and City of Milford team.

👩‍⚕️ Joan Braun has spent 24 years caring for Milford’s children as an elementary school nurse, and her summers supporting kids with special needs at Camp Happiness. This year, she extended her compassion across borders - traveling to Ukraine with Global Care Force to provide medical aid in communities cut off from healthcare due to war.

🩺 A registered nurse since 1975, Joan has served in newborn and pediatric ICUs, geriatrics, and special needs facilities before dedicating herself to school nursing. She plans to share her experience with Milford students, inspiring future generations to live with purpose and empathy.

💙 Milford is proud to recognize Joan’s unwavering dedication and service. Her impact reaches far beyond our city limits - and today, we celebrate her heart, courage, and commitment.
