to share this! As you may know I chose to be a Nurse! Back in 1980 when I did this not many men were making the same decision. While in nursing school I was performing standup comedy at the Charm City Club on Water Street in downtown Baltimore. In 1984 I was named “one of Baltimore’s funniest young comedians” in a Mashes Ham’s competition. Upon graduating from nursing school I retired from comedy.

Around 1990 I realized I needed to be less serious and in my life and career. I began referring to myself as a Retired Comic!

For about a decade my ability to use humor as a public speaker combined with my understanding of the Caregiver personality saw me become known as the Defender of Caregivers!

Today; I blessed to be myself using comedy to educate Caregivers and those with chronic disease; diabetes and at risk for Falls.

This video is a brief example of how o spend some of my days in service to others through humor.

A Caregiver’s Journey

The Family Caregiver Alliance shares a plethora of daunting statistics about the plight of a Caregiver; Depression, Illness, Financial Hardship and most of all... Fear and Guilt

Here at “Defender Of Caregivers” we have been advocating for Caregivers for more than 20 years through "EnterTrainment" featuring humor-based live programs that highlight the Caregiver Personality and developing self-talk strategies to avoid Cognitive/Caregiver Distortions or “Stinkin’ Thinkin’” patterns that can lead to isolation as well as the undesirable outcomes listed above.

The cornerstone of our programs and services is a one-man, comedic-dramatic play entitled “Defending the Caregiver” that takes the audience through a Dickens-esque Journey through a Caregiver’s Past, Present, and Future to teach the lessons of Awareness, Acceptance and Allowance.

We also provide training and team building to PROfessional Caregivers teaching them to relate to PERsonal/Family Caregivers in a more positive, pro-active, zero competition spirit of true collaboration. It’s the PRO-PER approach to the Caregivers Journey.
