I highly recommend this book - what a talented writer and storyteller and what a riveting tale he has to tell. Besides that, he grew up right here in Marin. Recognized by the New York Times as a memoir to read. Check it out! An unbelievable story.

STRENGTH AND FITNESS – BETTER TOGETHER

Functional strength - strong for life’s task’s, muscles where it matters
Good form – we’ll do pushups, squats, all the basics
Moving fast – we’ll do agility and cardio moves
Community – meet after class for motivating talks and accountability; we’ll miss you if you don’t come

What to Expect:
WE LOVE A COMEBACK!!! It’s the complete body, fitness, and emotional transformation that Mary experienced herself in her 50’s, despite weight and knee issues, and arthritis, that’s led her to share her passion for the miracles of strength training for AGING ACTIVELY mid-life and beyond.
This FULL BODY FUNCTIONAL FITNESS class begins with movement, agility, and mobility exercises, a 30 minute strength and cardio circuit, ending with exercises for core, balance, and stretching.
FEEDBACK FROM A PERSONAL TRAINER Learn how to execute basic moves safely and effectively for best results. This is a small group training class; the size is limited.
STAY FOR THE (OPTIONAL) ACCOUNTABILITY GROUP that meets for 30 minutes after class. Fitness involves more than exercising. Mindset and habits often need work as well as eating well, good sleep, and sometimes weight loss, all topics we talk about after class.

Mary’s been teaching strength circuit classes and one-on-one personal training for 8 years to women and men of all ages.

Made a mini-birthday cake with my five-year old granddaughter for my husband’s birthday. We nicked the Nasturium from a neighbor’s yard for a decoration after she informed me it was edible. 😅 Don’t always have to go to the gym for a workout. 18,663 steps: walks, and non-stop action put me to bed with her at 9:00. Thankful I’m in the shape I am to keep up with her. PS. Best chocolate cake recipe ever.

Reunion of MEA in SF Bay Area! Feel the joy? Still glowing two days later. What is MEA? An academy for mid-lifers in Baja, Mexico. A place to think about what’s next. A sanctuary where a broad variety of human experiences and life paths meet at a crossroads. For people in transition, feeling blocked. These words all stolen from a piece written by one of my teachers, Janis Spivack, when I was in Baja, Feb. 2020. She and are leading a workshop, Getting Unstuck:Turning Blocks Into Bridges June 26-July 3. Check out the MEA (Modern Elder Academy) website for all their offerings.
