We don't just become the better versions of ourselves by magic and wishful thinking. Mindset and how you show up for yourself every day is everything.

We all probably know on some level that vegetables and fruits are good for us and yet only about 10% of us actually eat the recommended amounts. These colorful foods provide us with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and other disease-fighting nutrients and are essential for a healthy diet and a robust gut microbiome and are not something you should skimp on if trying to improve your health.

-Good for you food is hard to eat if you don't have it. Make sure to keep your fridge and counters well stocked with fresh produce and cut up in advance things for the day or a few days at a time to minimize the temptation to grab for prepackaged foods.

-Cooked vegetables are often easier to digest-steaming or roasting is a good way to maintain the nutrients when cooking.

-Have fun experimenting with different fruits and vegetables. Wander around the produce aisle and try something new or different.

-Don't forget breakfast! No matter what or when you're eating for the first meal of your day, make sure it includes some produce in it. Ideally a veggie should be eaten in this meal too, but if that sounds totally unappetizing start with a fruit and work your way up to that.

I'm of the belief that for the most part, simple is better, especially when it comes to health. I see so many people doing all of these complicated things to achieve health (obsessing over different apps that record everything, taking 30 supplements a day, going from practitioner to practitioner, doing extreme cleanses, you name it) and yet aren't seeing the results they are looking for.

But what if we could get more by doing less?

It is of my belief that the vast majority of health issues can be prevented or at least improved upon by simple, basic things. Drink more water. Move your body some every day. Go outside. Eat a lot of vegetables. Cut out the fast food. Chew your food. Get more sleep. Slow down and breathe a little.

Sometimes we get so caught in the weeds of doing everything to feel better that we forget some of these basic things (yes, I've been guilty of this many times). So before you run to get more testing or pay for another "cure-all" supplement, make sure to ask yourself if you've checked all these boxes first.

Feeling stuck? I can help. My health coaching encompasses both mastering these foundations of health (in as simple, non-complicated way as possible) and then saving the digging in for when we really need it to keep it as simple and effective as possible to get you feeling better.

You can be eating the most amazingly nutritious food but if you're shoveling it in while sifting through stressful work emails or while trying to pack the kids' lunches (guilty!), you are not getting all the benefits of that meal. Our digestion starts in the brain and simply by thinking about eating we are already starting the digestion process. The next time you eat, sit down, slow down, chew your food and really pay attention to what you're eating.

👉Sit down in a calm place to eat-sitting down allows the blood flow to be focused on digestion vs the legs.

👉Take 3 deep breaths before eating-this stimulates the parasympathetic (rest and digest) nervous system which will allow better digestion.

👉 Focus on the food you're eating-stop scrolling, no email checking, no multi-tasking. Really pay attention to what you're eating (and enjoy it). And if you're with someone, enjoy their company and conversation (and for real, put away that phone!)

Another rockstar client where GI testing was crucial to her healing. We did the GI MAP, got a clear picture of what was going on and implemented a plan that brought almost immediate and long-lasting results.

A quote from one of my clients. Sooo true. And my family will attest to the fact that I am the crabbiest version of myself when I don't prioritize this. 😅

Many people (especially women) tend to put self care on the backburner thinking that it is selfish to put themselves first. However, we can't pour from an empty cup and will only have the capacity and physical energy to help take care of others if we are taking care of ourselves (that whole oxygen mask on the airplane thing). So go out there and do something for YOU tonight and throw any of that guilt out the window if it creeps in.

Work with someone trained in endometriosis if you have endometriosis. I can't say this enough. Not enough people really know this condition and you want to work with someone who knows it inside and out.

Surgery may be the gold standard for endometriosis care but isn't always necessary. Whether you do end up having surgery or not, outcomes improve dramatically when working with an endometriosis health coach to help you implement the lifestyle recommendations that are specific to YOU and to endometriosis.

I have it. I've lived it. I'm trained on it. If you or a loved one are struggling with endometriosis, I can help you.

Eating for blood sugar balance should generally be the goal as it is important for weight, hormones, energy, feeling full, mental clarity, etc.. For this, it's important to combine your meals and any snacks with a protein, fat and fiber source and to avoid eating "naked carbs" (so avoiding a plain bagel or crackers). However, the order of what you eat can also make a difference. Starting your meal with a good protein and vegetable source and saving the other carbohydrates until the end helps to reduce large spikes in blood sugar which can help with weight management and hormonal balance, not to mention that sluggishness that can come from eating a plain mound of pasta.
