Variety is the spice of life. It's also a huge factor for good gut health. When you eat different foods, you are feeding your microbiome with the diversity it needs. It's amazing how many of us end up eating the same few foods every single day. And while it may be a "healthy" diet, if it doesn't have enough variety in it and I often see a huge lack in beneficial bacteria on testing which greatly impairs your body to protect itself and thrive.

It's so easy to push off our health when our schedules are jam-packed. Between kids, work, other family commitments, holidays, volunteering and everything else that fill our day, it is so easy to put our health on the backburner. Next month always seems like a good time. After the holidays. When my schedule slows down...(is that a thing?).

But the thing is, we wait for a day that never happens and we just keep on feeling worse and worse. Until we're slammed with something irreversible.

Often it is the fear of how much time or money it will take but also, what changes you'll have to make. It's easier to just keep moving along in the lane you're moving in. But you know what happens when you start feeling better? Everything just becomes, well, better. Life becomes easier and more joyful and you can do all those things so much more smoothly.

I've never heard someone say, "I wish I had waited longer to take care of my health." Don't wait for your health.

Functional testing can be an incredible tool to help uncover what is driving your symptoms and can help to provide very individualized healing recommendations. However, it's only as good as the practitioner providing it and is a tool to leverage, not your entire healing plan.

Mastering the foundations of health is so key for truly addressing the root cause of your symptoms and allowing for long term optimal health. Supplements alone will not do this.

I'm all about functional testing, when needed, but you are so much more than a test result. Let's not forget the basics when working towards your health.

And here's who I am as a person....

-I am a wife and mother of 3 busy kiddos (ages 13, 10 and 7) and spend most of my free time with them, typically running them back and forth from dance and soccer or giving them food.

-I love running (especially trail running), hiking, playing outside with my kids, mt biking and generally being outside.

-I love being with my friends and family, even better if it's combined doing something of the above.

-I have a bit of a dry, quirky sense of humor and think that laughing is one of the greatest things ever and I never take myself too seriously.

-I love good homemade food, whether I'm making it, eating it or just generally thinking about it.

-My faith and the people I meet are constantly guiding me to work towards becoming a better human.

-I believe real, in person human connection is vastly lacking with the chaos of modern life and love connecting with people from all walks of life and hearing their stories.

-I love to explore and travel-right now my top bucket list places to visit are Ireland, Switzerland, New Zealand and Banff.

Fun facts about me:
-I once lived in a castle is Scotland
-I can handle bugs, spiders and snakes, etc. but absolutely cannot handle looking at moldy food.
-I am embarrassingly bad at parking and yet legitimately try each time. I'm just that bad.
-I can't open a PB, yogurt or ice cream container without drawing a smiley face in the center of it (and have trained my kids to do the same)
-Dancing is one of my secret favorite things to do ever and if more people did it the world would probably be a better place

Hello! It's been a minute since I've introduced myself so here is who I am and what I offer:

My original professional background is as a physical therapist, specifically a women's health pelvic floor physical therapist, which is still something that is near and dear to my heart. I love helping women gain the strength and confidence to get back to whatever in life they want to get back to.

I ventured into the world of functional health due to both my own struggles for 20 years with chronic, daily GI related pain as well as so many of my patients and friends having similar struggles.

After having no help from the traditional medical model and being diagnosed with"it's probably just stress," I finally found personal relief from my pain when working along a functional medicine provider and health coach and dove deep into the world of learning about all things integrative and functional health.

I help overwhelmed individuals dealing with chronic symptoms take simple, sustainable steps towards better health. With a focus on lifestyle medicine, nutrition and mindset, I offer a listening ear to help you connect the dots to your health challenges and work to create a clear path forward, with the accountability you need. The world of functional health can get complicated quickly and my goal is to simplify the process while still giving you the personalized care you need for healing.
