It's been awhile since I updated, but I'm still here!

Times have been tough here at the Embla house, we can't seem to catch a break. I hope that your winter was kinder than ours.

That said, a reading is a great way to prepare for Spring and see what's in store for you as the snow melts and nature begins to bloom again. It is a time of growth and change after a long winter of introspection.

On Saturday I had the pleasure to have a tarot reading done by Tarot Readings by Jean-Pierre. Jean-Pierre approaches divination in a way that is genuine and direct to convey any message the cards might have. Glad Jul, friends!

Each year, part of my Yule celebration includes drawing rune cards with Yggdrasil Wanderer to see what the New Year has in store.

This year I thought I'd draw a set for the collective (that's you, my followers).

Tonight is the first night of the Twelve Nights of Yule.

Mother's Night, or Yule Eve is the night to honor our feminine ancestors, the Disir (Valkyries, Norns, vaettir, and the like), along with the goddesses Fr**ga and Freyja.

An excellent way to do this without needing a traditional altar is simply to make family recipes and tell stories of your ancestors. If you elect to use an altar, an offering of traditional foods from your ancestral home or a bite of a favorite family recipe would be appropriate.

Sundays are for simmer pots.

Simmer pots are a great way to bring prosperity, abundance, purification, and protection into your home while also making it smell amazing. You can customize depending on your own preferences or intentions.

Today's simmer pot recipe is apples, lemons, cranberries, cinnamon, clove, star anise, rosemary, bay leaf, and juniper berry. Cover everything with plenty of water and bring to a boil. Turn to low and let simmer for at least 2 hours.

Happy Freyja's Day, lovelies!

Did you know that our days of the week are (mostly) named after Norse deities?

Sunday- Sunna's Day
Monday- Mani's Day
Tuesday- Tyr's Day
Wednesday- Odin's Day
Thursday- Thor's Day
Friday- Freyja's Day (sometimes known as Fr**ga's Day)
Saturday- Saturday had a name that essentially translated to "Bath Day", this is the only day of the week named re-named in English for a Roman god. Yes, the Norse really had a day each week dedicated to bathing and grooming.

In honor of Freyja's day, I'd like to feature an artist who makes beautiful pieces depicting various goddesses (including this gorgeous one of Our Lady Freyja). Check out their amazing shop!

General meanings include: Lot, Cup, Game Piece

Perthro often comes up in readings to tell us to let fate take the wheel. As we seek answers in divination, we are not necessarily ready to hear them nor may we be ready to act on them. Perthro reminds us that dealing with uncertainty and discomfort is not necessarily bad, but instead an important part of our journey.

If you've set something in motion recently, there is no need to continue to intervene. Worrying about the outcome will do little to change it.
Instead, try focusing on the here and now. If you can, break out a hobby or game to distract you from what is ahead and enjoy the company of good friends.
