Yes, a doctor really told me this when I expressed concerns with leaking during more intense workouts postpartum. 😳 And if you aren’t shocked (+ maybe a little bit angry) by this advice, then…you are probably like a LOT of pregnant and postpartum women.
DISCLAIMER: We know it can feel impossible to decipher the good advice from the incredibly wrong/harmful. Especially if it comes from our own trusted healthcare provider. We are not here to advocate for you or interfere with your care provider’s advice. BUT, we want you armed with the best tools to advocate for yourself in pregnancy/postpartum. We share our bullsh*t to teach you something new that could be helpful for your journey too.
…So, in case it wasn’t clear, please don’t just put in a tampon/wear a pad if you have concerns with leaking.
…And while we’re on the soapbox, please don’t waste money on random pelvic floor strengthening devices (without medical advice/supervision).
…Oh, and don’t just do a bunch of kegels.
