Overeaters Anonymous - OA Milwaukee

Overeaters Anonymous - OA Milwaukee This is the public-facing page for Milwaukee Area Intergroup of Overeaters Anonymous; not OA at large This is not the page for Overeaters Anonymous in general.

That can be found at oa.org. This is the page for information about the Milwaukee Area Intergroup of Overeaters Anonymous! Welcome! Overeaters Anonymous offers a program of recovery from compulsive eating using the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of OA. The only requirement for membership in OA is a desire to stop eating compulsively. Therefore, if you want to stop your compulsive eating, welcome to Overeaters Anonymous. If you live in southeastern Milwaukee, check out our website at oamilwaukee.org for a meeting list and other information about us. If you comment on any post on this page, we ask that there be no posting of disruptive messages. This includes commercial messages selling products, or things of that nature. We do NOT mention specific foods by name as these may trigger some people. Any pictures of food will be immediately removed. Discussion of meals, food plans and recipes are acceptable as long as it's non-specific manner ex. sugar, flour, sweets, wheat. We speak the language of recovery. We use the terms God (meaning the God of Our Understanding) and Higher Power. These words allow us to express spiritual feelings, providing a recovery home for sharing our experience, strength and hope. OA is not a religious organization and does not promote any particular diet. OA is based on the principle of anonymity. We ask members to respect anonymity and confidentiality. In our meetings we subscribe to "what we see here, what we say here, must stay here." Anyone commenting on this page may or may not be in the OA program, but all posts will be from OA Milwaukee thereby holding as much to confidentiality and anonymity as possible. Since this is a page on Facebook, all posts, likes, and comments are public and all names are visible--meaning they cannot be anonymous. However, anyone who likes the page may like a post and/or comment; therefore, all members may or may not be members of OA Milwaukee or OA in general so we ask that no assumptions be made. Keep coming back because together we get better. Responsibility Pledge: Always extend the hand and the heart of OA to those who share my compulsion; for this I am responsible.

What does "anonymity" mean in OA? 🌿
Being anonymous means that what you say at a meeting stays at the meeting, and no one but you can disclose your membership. In addition, there are no stars or celebrities in OA, and no one represents OA publicly. Inside OA, your outside status doesn’t matter—we get to know each other from the inside out. We are all equal, sharing a common problem with a shared solution. 💙
