Do you feel like half your day is spent 🏃🏽‍♀️‍➡️ running to the bathroom? Could you pinpoint 📍every restroom in a 5 mile radius?

You're not alone! Let's talk about urinary urgency, what causes it, and how to take back control. ✨

Have you ever arrived at a restaurant or a friend’s house and immediately started scanning for the nearest bathroom? Or maybe you find yourself running to the bathroom three times before even leaving your own house "just in case". If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. That sudden, unpredict...

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do in a busy season of change… is pause.
Take a deep breath.
Feel your feet on the ground.
Let yourself simply be.
🍂
This season is a reminder that change can be beautiful — and that slowing down is part of growth.

When she says she needs more sacral pressure, you figure it out! Even if that means balancing on a tub so I can get better leverage, I'm happy to help 💕

This mother worked HARD!! 💪🏼 Back labor didn't break her spirit, and she got to see how far she could push her limits. And I am honored that she chose me to witness her strength with her and her partner.

Sometimes, pregnancy takes unpredictable turns and we have to pivot our mindset and expectations. This couple handled the twists and turns with continued excitement and willingness to learn their options, which resulted in a beautifully different labor and delivery experience than originally planned. ☀️

If we're not prepared to handle those changes, this can lead to defeat and hopelessness ⛈️

But if we embrace the change and learn our options, we can regain a sense of empowerment and excitement.⛅🌤️☀️

So my advice for you as you plan for your birth: dream and plan for your perfect birth! But also prepare yourself for the "just in cases" to lighten the stress response and help you keep hold of the excitement and beauty of your birth experience 🤰🏼

Side note, here a couple favorite quotes from this birth because I love having laughter and light-heartedness showcased in labor 💕
- water breaks: "Baby says 'hold my placenta'."
- mom on her last 2 pushes: "get the F**K ooouuut!!!"

🌱Your Body Through Pregnancy: Trimester by Trimester 🌼

Pregnancy transforms your body in amazing (and sometimes uncomfortable) ways. Here’s what to expect—and tips that may help along the way:

✨ First Trimester (Weeks 1–13)
✔️ Your body is supporting baby’s early growth with increased blood flow and hormone changes.
➖ Nausea, fatigue, bloating, and tender breasts are common.
💡 Support: Small, frequent meals, hydration, and rest can help. Vitamin B6, ginger tea/candies and acupressure point bracelets can ease morning sickness.

✨ Second Trimester (Weeks 14–27)
✔️ Energy often returns, your bump grows, and you likely feel baby’s first kicks.
➖ Back, pelvic or belly ligament pain, skin changes, and bladder issues may appear as your body expands and your posture adjusts for balance.
💡 Support: Prenatal exercise (walking, yoga, swimming) can relax tight muscles, relieve pain and support a strong body. A maternity or pelvic support belt, comfortable shoes, and postural changes can lessen the stress on your body.

✨ Third Trimester (Weeks 28–40)
✔️ Baby is giving you lots of heartwarming kicks and wiggles while they rapidly grow, and your body is preparing for birth.
➖ Swelling, heartburn, back and/or pelvic pain, bowel and bladder issues, and sleep difficulties are common.
💡 Support: Sleeping on your side with a pillow between your legs and under your bump can reduce pain. Eating smaller meals and sitting/reclining upright can help heartburn. Staying active supports circulation, reduces swelling, and improves rest.

‼️Bowel, bladder and pain issues during pregnancy are common, but NEVER normal. You don't need to suffer. Pelvic Physical Therapy can help you feel more confident, comfortable and strong throughout your pregnancy.

💗 Every pregnancy is unique. Be gentle with yourself, and know that support is out there—your body is doing incredible work.

💞 We plan for so long to welcome a new baby into our lives, dreaming of all the possibilities this new bundle of joy will bring. But when they are finally here in our arms, we don't always feel the way we expected.

💔 We start to wonder if there's something wrong with us, pretend to be happy around friends and family, and go through the motions just hoping it will get better, not wanting to inconvenience our doctors or loved ones by asking for help.

🌦️ We are experiencing a postpartum mood disorder. It may feel overwhelming, but it is treatable and we are most certainly not alone.

According to , 1 in 5 women experience a postpartum mental health disorder, including postpartum depression (PPD), anxiety (PPA) or other condition within the first *18 months* postpartum.

🚩Signs you might have a postpartum mood disorder:
* Persistent sadness, anxiety, or emptiness
* Loss of interest or pleasure in activities you used to enjoy
* Fatigue, loss of energy, or trouble with sleep
* Changes in appetite or weight
* Feelings of worthlessness or guilt
* Loss of motivation
* Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
* Intense or persistent fear that your baby will be harmed
* Thoughts of harming yourself or your baby

⛅ If you relate to any of the above or are struggling in any way, please reach out for help. You are not alone, and there are resources available to support you:

* Moms Mental Health Initiative https://www.momsmentalhealthinitiative.org/ : offers access to online resources and personalized support with finding a local mental health provider and/or support group.

* The National Maternal Mental Health Hotline 1-833-852-6262 (1-833-TLC-MAMA) : offers constant free access to help you find local resources and mental health providers.

* Psychology Today: the "find a therapist" search at psychologytoday.com has a detailed filter to find the perfect therapist for you.

🌞Remember, seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Taking care of your mental health is essential for you and your baby.

🫗When we pour our heart and soul into meeting the needs of our families, friends, and jobs, we tend to lose track of our own body's needs without even realizing it.

Over time, we can become a shell of ourself. 💔
Exhausted, overwhelmed and resentful; the more we give, the less we can continue to give unless we refill our cup.🥛

Self care doesn't have to be an expensive visit to the spa or a long vacation. There are so many little ways we can slip some self care into our day:

🌿Prioritize rest: If you're a bedtime procrastinator, try to get to bed 5 minutes earlier each night. If you're juggling little kids, nap during their naps/quiet times. Talk with your partner to work out a sleeping in or nap schedule throughout the week.

🌿Ask for help: We all need it sometimes. Reach out to family and friends, whether it's for childcare, housework, or errands. Some might say "no", but I bet someone will say "yes".

🌿Eat healthy(er): We might be able to survive on bagels and coffee, but your body will thank you if you throw in some fruits, veggies, dairy and protein every day.

🌿Stay hydrated: Dehydration can cause irritability, fatigue and difficulty concentrating. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially if you're breastfeeding.

🌿Get some exercise: Even a short walk or yoga session can do wonders for your physical and mental health.

🌿Connect with other moms: Join a support group or connect with other moms online. Sharing experiences and getting advice can be incredibly helpful.

🌿Practice self-compassion: Be kind to yourself and remember that you're doing an amazing job.

🌿Take time for yourself: Schedule some time for yourself each day, even if it's just for a few minutes. This could include reading, taking a bath, or listening to music.

🌿Seek professional help: If you're struggling with depression or anxiety, ask your doctor for help finding a mental health professional. Admitting you need help is a STRENGTH, not a weakness.

✨Remember that self-care is not selfish: We MUST take care of ourselves in order to keep showing up for others.
