Professional Ambulance Association of Wisconsin

Professional Ambulance Association of Wisconsin The Professional Ambulance Association of Wisconsin is dedicated to healthy, sustainable ambulance and emergency medical service delivery in Wisconsin.

The Professional Ambulance Association of Wisconsin (PAAW) was created in 2004 to represent the interests of ambulance services in our state. The organization is not only focused on revenue shortfalls, such as Medicare and Medicaid, but is working to see that our voice is heard regarding existing statutes and administrative rules, as well as with future legislative initiatives. In addition, PAAW w

orks to create and promote opportunities for collaboration, networking and learning for EMS leaders, managers and practitioners. The PAAW organization serves as an EMS stakeholder group to better delivery of Emergency Medical Services in Wisconsin.

Last night, PAAW President Chris Anderson had the chance to speak with Governor Tony Evers at a political event.

Chris thanked the Governor for his continued support of EMS over the past several years; support that’s made a real difference for our communities, our providers, and the future of emergency care in Wisconsin.

Governor Evers thanked PAAW in return for helping him recognize just how vital EMS is to the health and safety of our state.

Thank you Senator Howard Marklein and Representative Tony Kurtz for championing this legislation and for your continued support of in Wisconsin.

Thank you Governor Tony Evers for signing these bills and your continued efforts to ensure a bright, sustainable future for ground ambulance service across the state.

We appreciate you taking the time to sit with and listen to PAAW members, for taking an interest in us, and for supporting us so we can continue to show up for our communities each and every day.

Today, the Governor signed two EMS bills authored by Representative Tony Kurtz and me.

Act 35 creates a tuition reimbursement program to reduce financial barriers to entry for volunteers and ensures that Wisconsin Technical Colleges can put on EMS classes even if they are not full.

Act 36 increases the reimbursement rate for calls in which EMS departments respond to a call but do not transport the patient to the hospital. It also requires an annual report to be published on scope of practice changes and how they will impact training hours for volunteers.

I am pleased that the Governor swiftly signed our two EMS bills into law. These ideas, brought to me by local EMS departments, will increase access to training, provide tools for recruitment, and support innovation.
