The staff at our Kathy Hospice recently celebrated Rod's 65th birthday! 🎉

Rod had one special request: crispy fried chicken. Our Hospice Manager, Chris, made it happen by picking up a delicious meal of chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes with gravy, and a biscuit from a local restaurant. Rod enjoyed every bite!

"The big dilemma for my 90-year-old mother at this time of year is what to give her children and grandchildren for Christmas. She does not have a lot of extra money, and she has 12 grandchildren, five children, and four daughters/sons-in-law. Mom cannot easily get out for shopping trips anymore. She also cannot really afford to buy 21 gifts. She is living on Social Security primarily. She just gets by each month. I know that it is stressing her to celebrate with family and not be able to participate fully. I tell her that it does not make a difference, though I see sadness in her when we open gifts. Please help me with some ideas that I can give her, to help make this holiday season more joyous for her."

We recently held a reception to honor Deb Gorman with a Memorial Rock, now placed in our Memorial Monument at Horizon's main office. Deb served as a Grief Resource Center Assistant for several years before her passing in February. She brought incredible warmth to the GRC and was a devoted Badgers and Packers fan.

During the reception, Deb’s family, along with Horizon employees and volunteers, shared their favorite memories of her. Her family selected a special spot on the monument for the rock to be placed.

A big thank you to Horizon volunteers Lauren, Briana, and Dan for preparing delicious treats for everyone to enjoy!

"It is getting very close to Christmas, and I have not figured out what to get my mother yet. Mom is 90 years old and lives in assisted living. Therefore, she does not need any household items. She does not do a lot these days, which makes it even more difficult. I do just not know what she would like or could use. I do not want to ask her because she always says “nothing” when asked. Please help me, I need ideas quickly."
