Two people navigating this thing called life trying to do the best they can while enjoying each moment and being present in those moments. We like running, hiking, off-roading, Netflix movies, WINE, Nascar (well not Danielle), renovating, races, challenges, competition, WINE, peace and quiet, land, guns and cheeseballs and spending time with the 3 little terrors that live in our house. We share our life with 3 little girls who keep us on our toes and try our patience daily. The oldest is 12 and the twins are 11. They are each unique in their own ways and bring equal amounts of crazy and sweet. I guess it depends on the day. We also have a big brown boy Newfoundland who is also equal parts crazy and sweet. We are currently spending a large amount of our time renovating our house, all by ourselves. The same weekend we closed on our new home we began tearing it apart. We figured why wait... It was time to build our vision! So that is what we are doing. By no means is it fast, but we are determined to do it our way and in our own time and on our own terms. Well, as much as the inspector will let us get away with. :)
We are both passionate about health and fitness. Well we believe that taking care of our bodies now, will help ensure our bodies will take care of us when we are much older. We also really like each other and want to spend as much time on this earth as we can together. At the same time, we want to grow old together and experience many adventures and life challenges along the way and in order to do all the things we want we have to keep our bodies strong. We often chat about the future and how wonderful it will be to be grandparents and have the energy to do all kinds of things with the grandkids just like we are doing with the kids. We didn't always live our lives this way. I mean we have both been pretty fit and active for most of our adult lives, but we didn't eat well or understand the importance of fueling your body well. It has only been in the last couple years that we have educated ourselves about the food we eat, what is in it and what it is really doing to and for our bodies. During that education period, we have been our own guinea pigs figuring out what works, what doesn't work and assessing the overall impact of those food choices on our physical state. By no means do we have everything down to a science or are we perfect. But we do feel as though we have figured out what you shouldn't eat or what doesn't work for our body. Don't get me wrong, we still eat the bad stuff at times too. Jesse, has never seen a cheese ball he doesn't like and I have never experienced an oreo blizzard that was bad enough for me to ignore. ;) But on a whole we strive to eat as good as we can to ensure we keep our energy up and our bodies strong. But most importantly, we want to educate our girls on food, fitness and mental positivity. We want them to experience natural, whole, organic food that is prepared fresh and NOT from a box. We want them to understand the importance of eating this type of food and appreciating the negative impacts of the other choices. We also work really hard to educate them on the expense of good food and why not to take it for granted. We started this page to share our journey, support anyone else out there with a similar journey, learn from others, educate, embarrass ourselves, get out of our comfort zones (because we are pretty damn private) and show you what a semi-normal and crazy family of five goes through in their journey to be healthy, STAY healthy and fight off all those really tasty, addictive bad foods that make us not want to do anything physical.
