Yoga is not only healing for your spiritual and emotional well-being, but also for your physical health. Fighting off a sinus infection and these movements and breathing is just what I needed to get some clarity in the fog. 🤧

Exploration day. Take some time to move your body, notice the sensations, breathe into areas you might not normally think to breathe into. You live in this body, get to know it.

Mindful meditation...
I’m currently taking a mindful living course and it’s fascinating to continue to dive in to this ancient practice. Being mindful doesn’t have to look like this. You can meditate while you fold laundry, go for a walk, sit and watch your kids play. It’s about bringing our minds back to the present moment. Being grateful for this vast universe we GET to be a part of. Knowing that we are connected to everything and everyone that surrounds us. And that our amazing Creator has placed us right where we are with a purpose. Reflecting on self, watching our thoughts, acknowledging emotions, and growing into a better being.

This is yoga.
Really challenging flow today. And of course I could have hit stop and found a different flow to push play on but I was already committed and wanted to see it through. Sometimes running away is not the solution and I could feel that today. So instead I spent some extra time in child’s pose, came out of that balance early into tadasana and listened to what MY body needed at the moment. Yoga is such an internal work, overcoming our ego when needed, turning our awareness inward to connect with the moment, reflecting on the life we’re in not dreaming about where we want to go or what used to be. Everyday I move through these same asanas or poses and they feel different every time I step on my mat. Some days are easy and effortless other days it’s a challenge like today. Notice. Absorb. Embrace. And live your yoga 💕 Thank you for the push today 😅

Sitting down to do a little reading and journalling, in this still, quiet pause of my week. You might look at my reading topics and give a little 🤨 a christian book by Steve Wiens and a book titled Yoga Body, Buddha Mind by Cyndi Lee 🧐 Who are you?

I am a yoga instructor. I am a Christian. While some Christians might scoff or gasp at a Christian practicing yoga, they simply don’t understand. It’s not wrong or bad, just a lack of education in the matter.

Everything we do is backed by intention. For one, yoga is NOT a religion. It is a five thousand year old practice that can be practiced by Hindus, Buddhist, Christians, atheists... anyone. It is not tied to a religion. But in my choice and my belief I do use it as a meditative or worshiping form to my God as a Christian. The Bible even commands us to meditate, to connect body mind and soul, to worship God with our WHOLE being. Which is also why I chose to get certified in Holy Yoga and learn the fundamentals of Christian yoga. It’s not my only training, but it’s a piece of the puzzle I am thankful to have.

However I am currently teaching secular yoga at this time, but as I mentioned it’s all about intention. Root your intentions in love, self-reflect, question yourself, ask questions, dive deeper, seek peace, grow yourself, and never stop reading.

Hello
This is probably the pose I see done incorrectly the most. I don’t tend to teach it unless I’ve broken it down to the class first. Some key points:🔹tip yourself forward on your toes before going down 🔹 only lower down halfway not letting your shoulders fall below your elbows 🔹 keep your elbow directly over your wrist (hence why it’s easiest to shift forward before lowering down) and finally 🔹if you can’t hold it here, drop to your knees and do chaturanga from there. No shame in dropping the knees. Build strength. Yoga isn’t about comparing the way you do moves with how others do. It’s about doing what’s right for your body. Finding the alignment that aligns with YOU. That looks different on EVERYBODY.

Yoga intentions, what are they? Well it’s a message, mantra, poem, quote, saying, or mindset to work into a yoga flow. Setting the mind up to fully connect with the body. I have a set intention or theme for each class, wether it’s weaving the word or sharing a contemplative quote. It’s a way to get the mind thinking. A way to dig deeper, a way to embrace the life God has given us. Tonight I shared about the seasons of life from book. So naturally the flow had some struggle seasons (ab work) and hope seasons (ending ab work 😂). Enjoying this book so thought I’d share. We ended in savasana with page 109. 📖
And you thought yoga was all about pretzel poses. 🙅🏻‍♀️😉🧘🏻‍♀️
