By observing the children she worked with, she found that all children have universal developmental needs and that when given a supportive environment, children will naturally develop without deviations. A Montessori environment supports learning by experience in real life. There are Montessori schools around the world. Doula is a Greek word referring to a female servant or caregiver. A doula is a
woman who cares for women before, during, and after birth. A doula is a non-medical support person. She provides information to families to assist them in making decisions, she provides hands-on support and modeling, and she provides emotional support. Birth doulas provide continuous labor support and postpartum doulas support families after the birth. I love working with children and families. I began working in a Montessori Preschool in 2002 and as a guide in a Toddler Community in 2009 after receiving my Masters of Education and AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) Assistant to Infancy diploma. I began the certification process to become a DONA International certified Birth Doula and Postpartum Doula in early 2011 and have completed all the required workshops. I am currently working with families that evaluate my work with them for my certification. I also have additional training to doula Hypnobabies families. As a member of both communities, I especially look forward to working with queer families and adoptive families. In addition, I am moderately fluent in Spanish and could work with bilingual families. I have a profile on the Childbirth Collective, where I am an active member. I also have a profile on DoulaMatch.net.
