I sent out an email yesterday to the network with a list of organizations that are providing boots on the ground support for the residents of being affected by the ICE raids.
I got some push back from what I’m guessing was an old, white, racist man. After 20 years in business I find it humorous when people ask me to not to be political. Even tho starting an organic beauty company is political! Most people don’t know the origin of that history. As we have gotten so far away from it.
When WWII ended, the US and European governments had large (ammunition) factories with capacity to produce millions of tons of nitrogen. These factories were pivoted from making explosives into ammonium nitrate fertilizer, leading to a flood of cheap, synthetic nitrogen available for agricultural use. Activists started the organic movement to protest both the war and the use of chemicals on their food. It was a protest movement much like what is happening in my city now.
