💙 AARC Disaster Relief Program 💙
Since 1992, the AARC Disaster Relief Program has been there to support AARC members impacted by natural disasters. When members experience damage to their homes or personal property, they may apply for a grant of up to $500 to help during difficult times.
This program is made possible only through the generosity of AARC members supporting one another. Your donations allow us to continue providing timely help to colleagues when they need it most.

🌬️🫁 Day Two Highlights — Iowa Society of Respiratory Care Lung Conference 🫁🌬️
We held Day Two of the Iowa Society of Respiratory Care Lung Conference on Friday, April 3rd. The day was packed with impactful education and meaningful conversations! Attendees engaged in a full day of sessions covering a wide range of topics essential to respiratory care today—professional credentialing and excellence, lung cancer trends in Iowa, powerful patient and family perspectives, emerging issues in e‑cigarettes and va**ng, trauma management, and the life‑saving impact of organ donation.
The variety of perspectives—from clinical practice to patient experience—sparked thoughtful discussion, reflection, and learning throughout the day. Combined with opportunities to connect with colleagues and a busy vendor hall over the lunch hour, the conference continued to foster collaboration and professional growth among respiratory care professionals from across the state.
Thank you to our speakers, attendees, and supporters for helping make Day Two such a success! 💙

🎉🫁 Presidential Award Presentation 🫁🎉
On Friday, April 2nd, during our annual Iowa Society of Respiratory Care Lung Conference, IaSRC President Ryan Frede had the honor of presenting the President’s Award to Matt Eide and Kate Walton of Eide‑Walton, IaSRC’s longtime lobbying firm.
For more than 20 years, Matt and Kate have been dedicated advocates for the respiratory care profession in Iowa. Their efforts have been instrumental in defending our licensure, successfully passing compact licensure—making Iowa just the third state to do so last year—and organizing IaSRC’s annual Legislative Breakfast at the State Capitol, among many other initiatives.
Their knowledge, guidance, and unwavering commitment have played a vital role in advancing and protecting our profession. We are incredibly grateful for their continued partnership and service to IaSRC.
Congratulations, Matt and Kate, and thank you for all that you do! 💙

📣 The Respiratory Care Interstate Compact (RCIC) is official with the passage of the 7th and 8th states today!

AARC, in collaboration with the Council of State Governments (CSG) and the Department of Defense (DoD), is proud to announce the formal launch of the RCIC, which now establishes the Respiratory Care Interstate Compact Commission. This initiative marks a new era for the respiratory therapy profession, streamlining licensure across state lines to improve patient care and address critical healthcare staffing shortages.

🎉🫁 Student Track Kicks Off the Iowa Society of Respiratory Care Lung Conference! 🫁🎉
We officially kicked off the Iowa Society of Respiratory Care Lung Conference with an amazing Student Track, and what a great day it was!
Students had the opportunity to connect with employers recruiting respiratory therapists from across the Midwest, hear about career opportunities, and network with future colleagues. We also celebrated some lucky prize winners throughout the day 🎁🎉.

One of the highlights was our “Shark Tank”‑style competition, where students worked in teams to use equipment to solve a respiratory‑related problem and then pitched their innovative solutions to a panel of judges—great creativity and teamwork on display!

Students also heard from:
👏 Lori Tinkler with the NBRC
👏 Jerry King with students Aaron Cao (DMACC) & Sidney Gruntmeier (Kirkwood)

They shared valuable insights about the AARC, the House of Delegates, and ways students can get involved and make their voices heard in the profession.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the Student Track such a success! We’re looking forward to another fun, busy day tomorrow as the full conference gets underway! 🌬️💙
