🌞We are taught to fear the SUN, but I believe it should be the complete opposite. We should revere and worship the Sun, as many civilizations have done for 1,000’s of years. Why are we fearing the SUN when it gives life to EARTH and everything on the planet? It gives us vitamins and minerals and grows our trees to breathe. I am here to explain why I have stopped using SPF + Sunglasses + Supplementing with Vitamin D all together (including my children)… and why Seed Oils (+ GMO’s) increase inflammation + make you burn more. 🌞 see my Hilites for more in-depth slides.
There is a mythical power to the sun + it has always been a fixture of what makes life possible — it cultivates the food we eat, it creates the pleasant temperate climates we and all animals enjoy, it allows us to see the beauty of the world around us, it gave us the ability to tell time long before we ever had mechanical clocks, and it even energizes and restores our bodies through direct exposure to its light. It’s no wonder that nearly every ancient religion featured some kind of sun deity or worship.
Ancient Egyptians worshipped the sun god Ra, the central deity of their pantheon, and a being so powerful and regarded, he was thought to have created everything. The Pharaohs were often seen as earthly extensions of the mighty god.
Egyptians explained the natural and essential cycle of the sun rising and setting as Ra sailing across the heavens each day on his boat + dying at the end of his voyage, only to be reborn at the start of each new day.
We used to rise with Sun and sleep with the Sunset. But since the dawn of the industrial revolution we have come so far from nature and thus our biological clocks and circadian rhythm cycles are messed up. We have photosensitive cells in our eyes that speak to our hypothalamus and directly support our hormones. The sun pulls us up and switches on our bodies for the day (and turns them off at night). I believe we can do better for ourselves, our bodies, our hormones + our children? Let’s start by understanding better the impacts of sheltered non-natural light living + FEARING THE SUN.
