During this holiday season we pause to reflect on what matters most. The care we share and the sense of home we create together every day.

We are deeply grateful for our residents who inspire us, the families who trust us, and the staff and volunteers whose compassion makes this community so special. Because of you, Episcopal Homes is filled with warmth all year long.

Wishing you and your loved ones peace, joy, and comfort throughout the holiday season and into the new year. Thank you for being part of our Episcopal Homes family.❄️🩵

A cozy holiday moment in The Gardens with our Chaplain Phil reading A Cup of Christmas Tea to our residents while they sipped on homemade Russian tea!

It was a meaningful way to share togetherness during the holidays!❤️☕️

Wellbeing Wednesday! Since moving to Episcopal Homes in 2019, Barb has been a joyful force behind our Flower Brigade. From creating May Baskets for 252 residents to leading our Friday/Saturday team of 22 volunteers, she helps fill our campus with beautiful bouquets, and plenty of smiles. 💐⛲️

We’re so grateful for Barb’s leadership, creativity, and heart. (And her tip: add a penny to your tulip water to help them last longer!)

Wellness Wednesday! Thank you to Dr. Roxanne Pritchard, neuroscientist from the University of St. Thomas, and her students for returning to report on their findings of a sleep study performed on our assisted living residents at Iris Park Commons.

We learned so much about why sleep is important, habits for good sleep, and that Salvador Dali was terrified to go to sleep! We’re grateful for this wonderful collaboration with the University of St. Thomas, our neighbor just up the street!

Wellness Wednesday! Did you know Episcopal Homes has a long tradition of supporting creative and cultural experiences for our community? Here’s a look back at one of those memorable moments! We were delighted to sponsor a poetry reading with acclaimed poet Norbert Hirschhorn, whose powerful collection Over the Edge brought residents together for an evening of storytelling and connection. Listeners were taken on a journey “to the borders of the universe and beyond,” guided by a poet whose voice is both courageous and profoundly compassionate.

We’re proud to continue sponsoring engaging literary gatherings, author visits, and poetry readings that spark imagination and bring joy to our community! This is all thanks to our Creative Ventures Program and funding from our Foundation! Visit our website to learn more! https://episcopalhomes.org/creative-ventures/

November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, and we are proud to recognize the incredible work of our staff at Beyond Hospice who provide thoughtful, person-centered care to residents and families facing end-of-life transitions.

Hospice care embodies the heart of our mission, which is meeting people where they are with compassion, dignity, and support. We honor the caregivers and professionals who bring comfort and connection during life’s most meaningful moments.

Join us in expressing our appreciation for all who make hospice care possible!

Bonnie Driggs knows our Episcopal Homes community well. She is a retired nurse with experience in memory care, long-term care, and adult day programs. In 2017 she started as a volunteer with Episcopal Homes as an empty nester and donated her time with our Kinder Village childcare. In March of 2020 during the Women's March in the Twin Cities, she witnessed Episcopal Homes residents on University Avenue with their signs boasting "Democracy Now" and she said then and there, to her husband John, "if the time comes and we need to move, this is where I want to live!" So, she called Episcopal Homes, and they got on the wait list.

Bonnie and John moved in August 2023. And Bonnie restarted her volunteer service too. Bonnie has volunteered with bingo at Iris Park Commons, escorted Gardens residents to exercise classes, and reads to Katy's Cottage residents. You can see her at many of the campus events helping residents come and enjoy the festivities. Bonnie also helps serve and host at the Terrace Grille for the holidays. In addition to her active volunteer schedule, she is an avid quilter and sews beautiful blankets and wall coverings all by hand! We are so very fortunate to have Bonnie as a volunteer and neighbor at Episcopal Homes. She is really a wonderful spokesperson too!

Yesterday, Episcopal Homes held our annual meeting with our Board Members; a dedicated group of leaders who help guide our mission and vision for the future. Together, we reflected on this past year’s achievements, shared exciting updates, and discussed the opportunities ahead as we continue to serve residents and families with excellence and compassion.

We’re grateful for the thoughtful leadership, time, and heart our board members invest in Episcopal Homes. Their commitment helps ensure that we remain strong, innovative, and mission-driven for years to come.
