Our mission is to create a safe and supportive environment where survivors can heal, grow, and thrive, while promoting awareness, prevention, and advocacy against sexual and domestic violence. LOC’s vision is one that provides woman with a safe place to identify their traumatic experiences through in person wellness sessions, which will allow the individual to work towards healing from events of abuse and the trauma the event caused. This allows each women to go through a much needed healing process, which will be beneficial because there are a number of woman who try to cope with the trauma symptoms of abuse alone and finds the road to healing lonely. The group sessions looks to strengthen each other and learn to love themselves beyond their trauma and learn to make more positive and healthy decisions in their lives as a group.

At Legacy of Change Inc, we believe education is key to awareness and prevention. These three forms of violence often overlap, but each carries unique dynamics and needs.

Today was a good day representing myself at 3rd annual Protecting Innocence: Joining forces to combating human trafficking. Amazing network and guest speakers. Always great seeing many faces I haven’t seen in a while but especially my old crew.

Legacy of Change Inc. was honored to participate in an advanced investigative training program focused on human trafficking investigations and prosecutions. This powerful training brought together dedicated law enforcement officers from Broward, Palm Beach, and Miami-Dade counties, all committed to deepening their understanding of the complex realities surrounding human trafficking. We were especially moved by the words of Broward State Attorney Harold F. Pryor Jr. and Assistant State Attorney Danielle Lennox, who emphasized the importance of trauma-informed, survivor-centered investigations and the critical role they play in creating safer communities.

Our team also had the privilege of contributing to a panel discussion alongside incredible partners from the Broward County Government Nancy J Cotterman Center, Legacy of Change Inc FLITE Center, and Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida all united in our mission to provide resources, hope, and healing for survivors. Hosted by Broward College/ Institute of Public Safety, this conversation was a reminder of the strength that comes from collaboration and community.

A key takeaway from the training: Treat every individual with humanity, compassion, and respect just as you would want to be treated. Behind every story is a person with dignity and resilience. We must move beyond assumptions and judgment, and instead lean into understanding and support.

For those facing the pain of human trafficking, sexual assault, or domestic violence, please know: you are not alone. There are countless organizations and advocates standing ready to walk beside you in your healing journey.

Together, we are building a legacy of change one act of awareness, one life restored, one voice empowered at a time.

I know enough friends and followers who are always watching and waiting to see what’s next to post but this time I’m asking to 🛑 STOP and READ and DONATE.

My journey over the past two years has been one of trials, tribulations, and triumphs. Losing four beloved role models, including my grandmother, pushed me to discover inner resilience. After overcoming past adversities, I thought I was healed, but life's challenges continued. Turning 38 today and facing societal expectations, I realized my true strength lies within. As a clinician, I've helped others, but forgot to prioritize myself. Now, I'm embracing self-love and self-care. My struggles with PCOS and ferility issues have taught me that beauty transcends societal expectations. Although I am not yet a biological parent I am a proud mom, aunt, big and little sister and mentor to so many young amazing people I have met throughout my career from HANDY, Gilda's Club, Kids in Distress, Palm Garden of Aventura and FLITE Center. My heart is over joyed because of the love they have all brought me. From my many years as a social worker I realized we often focus on fixing the emergency at need right away but often time forget to help those we come in contact with to heal from their past traumas and learning that loving themselves beyond the traumas heals deeper from within and carries throughout the years. Through Legacy of Change Inc, my nonprofit, I'm passionate about empowering young women to overcome trauma and find self-love.
