What a blessing to be an approved Fellowship Ministry here at Saddleback Church!. This ministry will be serving the homeless, cancer patients, and newborn babies and looks forward to any other opportunity to serve. We provide knitted and crocheted items for these groups such as hats and scarves. Cancer Patients: We provide beanies for cancer patients who are undergoing chemo/radiation treatments. With the loss of your hair, you get pretty cold. We take the beanies to a cancer treatment center in Newport Beach. Homeless: We are currently making hats and scarves for the homeless. At the present time the hats and scarves we are making are serving the homeless in Utah. We knit and crochet all year and make the contribution in November. Baby Love Ministry: We are making baby hats for newborns at San Francisco General Hospital. This hospital is in a very poor part of San Francisco. We are teaming up with Grace Episcopal Church and their Baby Love Ministry. The project is designed to help the neediest of the needy. Each month 135-150 babies are born at San Francisco General Hospital. Forever Footprints: We provide blankets and beanies for the grieving parents who have lost a child. Parents receive a memory box with our gifts and other support materials as they grieve the loss of their loved one. Operation Gratitude: Hundreds of thousands of American Service Members are deployed in hostile and remote regions of the world, including the Middle East, Afghanistan, and on ships throughout international waters. The physical conditions they must endure are difficult and they may be separated from loved ones for long periods of time. Operation Gratitude seeks to lift morale and put smiles on faces by sending care packages addressed to individual Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines deployed overseas. Operation Gratitude care packages contain food, hygiene products, entertainment items and personal letters of appreciation, all wrapped with good wishes of love and support. We provide hats and scarves. The scarf requirement is 5-7" wide and under 50" long. Any color is acceptable, but subtle ones are preferred, since most items will be going to guys! The caps are also welcomed. Please include a note in each item, if possible, thanking them for their service, and include a way for them to reach you, as some will want to say thank you---either an e-mail or address.
