Fun things are happening here in the Hill Country. I'll be hosting and curating a special event for The Eclipse. If you know anyone who might be interested in attending please pass on the details.

Join us for The Eclipse: A Ceremonial Experience, a mind-blowing event where we'll immerse ourselves in the mystical aura of an eclipse.

I opened this book of poetry and it landed on this page randomly. Yesterday there was an eclipse of the sun. Did you get to witness it?
*
Also, poems are much more fun spoken aloud in your own voice. Give it a go if you dare.
*
May this eclipse season that brings transformative energies propel you into a more whole experience of yourself. May what is no longer needed burn to the ground. May you stand on a new solidness within your own being. 🌙 ☀️ ✨

Sometimes by David Whyte

What are you being asked to stop doing right now?

I have walked through many lives
Some of them my own
And I am not who I was
Though some principle of being
Abides from which I struggle
Not to stray...
Letting the waves and sand ground me as I return.

Exploring authority and the ways in which I relinquish my power to an external authority thinking someone outside of me might have the answers. I’m realizing more and more the importance of listening to my own heart, my own wisdom and my own inner authority. ..no one is even interested in saving you now...

One day you finally knew what you had to do and began...
Can you start listening to your own voice and follow her into the unknown?

The stories of our lives tend to repeat themselves again and again. Today I am doing my best to leave them behind.
Prescription for the Disillusioned

Come new to this day.
Remove the rigid overcoat of experience, the notion of knowing, the beliefs that cloud your vision.
Leave behind the stories of your life.
Spit out the sour taste of unmet expectation.
Let the stale scent of what-ifs waft back into the swamp of your useless fears.
Arrive curious, without the armor of certainty, the plans and planned results of the life you’ve imagined. Live the life that chooses you,
new every breath, every blink of your astonished eyes.

Here’s a poem I want to learn by heart. It has important reminders and wisdom.

Trough

There is a trough in waves,
a low spot
where horizon disappears
and only sky
and water
are our company.

And there we lose our way
unless
we rest, knowing the wave will bring us
to its crest again.

There we may drown
if we let fear
hold us in its grip and shake us
side to side,
and leave us flailing, torn, disoriented.

But if we rest there
in the trough,
in silence,
being in the low part of the wave,
keeping our energy and
noticing the shape of things,
the flow,
then time alone
will bring us to another
place
where we can see
horizon, see land again,
regain our sense
of where
we are,
and where we need to swim.

The steps of my life return to me
Making a music no one hears.
All the errors, all the mistakes
Repeat.
Until I listen.

Until I can take my splintered being by the hand and lead her back to her wholeness.
The wholeness I knew as a child.

I move back through each step of my life
The steps that got me here
Asking,
Have I ever lost anything or is each perceived loss really a letting go, a gift of more space for growth?

Yesterday I went to the new student orientation at California Institute of Integral Studies. I will be studying Somatic Psychology in pursuit of a Masters in Family Therapy. This part of my journey is a new beginning.

Here is the poem I shared to articulate the story of how I got to this program. It felt relevant for myself and the entire incoming class of new students across the many programs at CIIS. Enjoy.

For a New Beginning

In out-of-the-way places of the heart,
Where your thoughts never think to wander,
This beginning has been quietly forming,
Waiting until you were ready to emerge.

For a long time it has watched your desire,
Feeling the emptiness growing inside you,
Noticing how you willed yourself on,
Still unable to leave what you had outgrown.

It watched you play with the seduction of safety
And the gray promises that sameness whispered,
Heard the waves of turmoil rise and relent,
Wondered would you always live like this.

Then the delight, when your courage kindled,
And out you stepped onto new ground,
Your eyes young again with energy and dream,
A path of plenitude opening before you.

Though your destination is not yet clear
You can trust the promise of this opening;
Unfurl yourself into the grace of beginning
That is at one with your life’s desire.

Awaken your spirit to adventure;
Hold nothing back, learn to find ease in risk;
Soon you will be home in a new rhythm,
For your soul senses the world that awaits you.
