So I know I mentioned a few posts back that I was wanting to make a tongue and cheek calendar that fights back against all the "perfection homesteaders/farmers" out there, lol. All the proceeds are to go to a nonprofit. I had a good think on it and I truly couldn't think of a more deserving nonprofit than People & Animal Learning Services (PALS) . As you can see from the below pictures they experienced an F2 tornado this year that completely demolished their barn. These people are selfless and truly trying to make a difference in so many people's lives. The horses were all okay, but it has been a long road to even just getting the clean up done.
I was able to speak with one their Director of Development and she loved the idea. They are in!!!
I also was able to contact Printing Partners , an amazing company that does printing up in Indy. We have used them for labels and business cards and they have bent over backwards with helping us navigate that side of the business. If we purchase 1,000 calendars they are going to donate $1,000 off the cost of printing. So we have $2,500 to raise to get these calendars printed.
Let me say again, all proceeds go to PALS. I wish I had the money to just buy them, but unless I sell a kidney, I am out of luck, lol. So tomorrow I start knocking on doors. If anyone knows of any local businesses that would be willing to donate there are tier levels of $100, $250, $500, and $1,000. This gets your company logo on the calendar (size is dependent on donation level). Obviously if you want to make a personal donation of a different amount, that is perfectly fine. I have a group of like-minded people to help put all this together and give some oversight and insight.
We are going to sell calendars for $20 each with the hope that with your help we can sell all 1,000 and make $20,000 for the organization.
If you would like to be on the calendar committee, please let me know. I would love all the help I can get. In the next few days we are going to announce the photo contest and how you submit an entry. We are looking for anything that is a play on the 5'11 blonde wearing a pure white sundress, with a french tip manicure, a blowout, all while holding a designer chicken and smiling at her three kids (all dressed in white as well) as they feed the rest of the flock. If that is your gig, my hat is off to you, but it isn't the norm. The goal is make people smile, have a laugh, and raise some money for an incredible organization.
Calendar Potential Names:
Farming Guts
Grit
No Guts, No Glory
And I am open to all other suggestions!
And yes, I needed another project.
