Named after the Roman god of agriculture and time, Saturn has also been equated with Satan, who tells us we are limited to the body-mind connection of the physical realm... The 3rd dimension from which we can go no further. This narrative is between those of a mature mind and those under sway of a mind-set. Saturn is tied to obsession with structure and form, sometimes tending towards fear-based projections that are confined to physical properties.
Agriculture and time, the building blocks of modern civilization. The traditional views of time as money have begun to fall short. Younger generations appear to have an active awareness of something that colonial conquest mentality has attempted to keep secret. Breaking this traditional monopoly on time is going to be a necessary leap for humankind. As we transition into another age, our calendars and references to natural cycles are likely to evolve in new and unpredictable ways.
Tav, The World in Tarot, corresponds to Saturn. The pair of opposites attributed are dominion and slavery, asking us to reflect on the aphorism “He who would rule Nature must first obey her laws”. This glyph invokes administrative intelligence. It has to do with choosing concrete actions in order to accomplish your mission. Finalizing projects that are yet to be completed and creating resolution with unfinished business are keys to this energy. Signifying cosmic consciousness, or Nirvana, The World is the stage of spiritual unfoldment that represents what you and the cosmos really are. In mythology Saturn ate his own children, representing that which absorbs its own expressions back into itself. Ruling Capricorn, we see where the analogy between Saturn and the horned Satan likely originated.
The Devil in Tarot is represented by Capricorn, the goat. Ayin is the Hebrew glyph, meaning “eye” and “foundation”. The cardinal earthy sign of Capricorn reminds us that in truth, our adversaries are constantly prepared to serve us, as long as we take account of the hidden side of reality, humbly adopting our essential freedoms. Again this provides reflection on how human consciousness becomes bestialized when we reason from surface appearances. We must look deeper, beneath the surface of the physical in order to actualize a foundation of spirituality in our daily practices. Ayin implores we use more discernment in our navigation.
The Devil is our flat perception, senses divorced of knowledge due to ignorance. Freedom does not appear to be offered readily us, we are born into limitation. Arriving into a world that is truly free would demand that we arrive with previous knowledge of existence. Discernment comes from life experience, emotional extremes and a keen awareness that there are chains in place which can harness humanity as a slave species. Liberation begins when we are not only aware of the prison of material sensation, but also take the leap to remove the bonds holding us back from self-realization.
In 2nd millennium BCE, Vedic literature uses the Sanskrit work, translated to “Devi”, to denote “goddess”. Mahadevi means “great goddess”, who had many titles including Kanya (the virgin), Mahamaya (the illusion), Bhutanayaki, Vindhyavasini, Uma (Devi’s benevolence) and Durga (Devi’s malevolence). Devi is related to female energy, Yin of Yang, or the Shakti of Shiva. Generally understood as the force of divine femininity, this word was tarnished by western etymologists to refer to something evil, a creative energy to be avoided due to its dark implications.
The tone of 147.85 Hz, Saturn is known to increase heart rate, potentially straining serious heart conditions. Intense emotional processes can come up using this frequency, involving anger, fear and control. Deeper work mostly benefits individuals who are prepared to face the impacts of trauma, or whom are entrenched in habitual patterns which need interruption. For some people, Saturn may be felt as invasive or upsetting. However, used gently, Saturn can help develop a sensitive awareness of how, reflecting on the full spectrum of light and dark, the truth will set us free.
KEYS : Breaking the monopoly of time. Obeying the laws on nature. Choosing concrete action. Absorbing self expression. Adopting essential freedoms. Beyond the prison of material sensation.
