Selah's Center of Hope

Selah's offers housing for expectant mothers experiencing homelessness or abuse.

During their stay at our home, they receive support and opportunities aimed at empowering them, enabling them to eventually transition to independent living. Selah’s Maternity Home offers refuge for women facing unexpected pregnancies, grappling with homelessness, abuse, or trapped in the relentless cycle of poverty without adequate support. Beyond providing shelter, we extend our assistance to address their physical needs and offer services that empower them in their individual quests for independence. Our approach involves personalized case management, guiding them through healthcare, mental health, and social services. Moms benefit from ongoing support both before and after childbirth, all the while fostering the development and reinforcement of a profound spiritual life.

As we were remodeling our new home, we came across a touching reminder of why we're really doing all this. Hidden on a cabinet door was a heartfelt note, a prayer that perfectly captures the spirit of giving and dedication:

“Dear Father, bless the work we do. Give us the strength, wisdom, and judgment to fulfill our duties. May we understand that in serving mankind we serve thee. Take our efforts and make them thine. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”

The note reminds us that in every little task, there's a chance to serve and lift others up. As we keep going with our work, let's hold onto this prayer, letting it fill our actions with purpose and grace. Together, let's turn our efforts into a testament of love and service, doing our duties knowing that by serving others, we're part of something much bigger.

At Selah's, we're so grateful for the amazing support from the Monroe community, especially when our residents and their little ones need extra care outside the city. Right now, we're in a period with several preemies, and we're super thankful for the awesome NICU nurses and social workers at a Detroit hospital. Their hard work is really making a difference for our newest resident.

We're thrilled to share that during our last visit, baby P is making great progress, slowly coming off some support, gaining weight, and getting stronger every day. We truly appreciate your continued prayers for both Mom and baby P as they work through this challenging time. We can't wait to welcome them back to Hope House in just a few weeks!

At Selah's Center of Hope, we are currently experiencing a season of welcoming premature babies. Our precious Baby Girl arrived 4 weeks early at 36 weeks, and she is thriving, growing, and in good health. Baby Boy made his entrance 7 weeks early at 33 weeks and remains in the NICU, where he is steadily gaining weight. We kindly ask for your prayers for the continued growth and well-being of these little ones and for the swift recovery of their courageous mothers.
