Sama Yoga & Ayurveda Sama is the sanskrit word for balance. We are dedicated to helping everyone find balance through the simple tools of Ayurveda.

Ayurveda is an ancient healing system. Its healing powers aim to address subtle discomforts before they manifest physically as disease. At Sama we focus on bringing the mind, body and spirit back into balance through mindful diet and lifestyle choices. Recomendations are made based on each individuals needs. Great consideration is given to how difficult it is to change, so we'll start off with ver

y basic recomendations and build from there. At Sama, we strive to make everything exteremely accessible so that the "medicine" works!

It's that time of year. The snow is melting, the waterfalls are plentiful and the rivers are flowing! Ayurveda tells us we are a microcosm of the macrocosm, which means the same is happening to us. The stagnation from the winter is beginning to melt, our muscles are waking our juices are flowing! With that can come pain and discomfort, runny noses, headaches, etc... which means it's time to pay attention to our lymphatic system and do what we can to get it flowing and functioning optimally.

As Kapha begins to melt, it may leave us feeling confused. Some days our energy is at it's peak while others we feel lethargic and soggy. Taking a daily walk is one of the simplest ways to help Kapha stay balanced. That simple daily movement helps the lymph flow, as we melt along with the snow, gets our muscles going and our energy awake! Plus it's so great to get all that fresh air...

Waking up slowly on this day of time change. Letting my body adjust to the shift in her rhythms. What do I find as I sit down on the porch to have my coffees - this splendor!

They are indeed flying north. It is already 50° here in Northeast PA. It's safe to say Kapha is melting. Change is coming. And a new season awaits us.

When we moved 3 years ago, the thought of leaving behind this glorious rosebush felt devastating. I am so grateful the little babe I moved with us is healthy and thriving! She's got so many buds this year and smells utterly divine. Grateful for today's harvest.

Hello fall from the Delaware River Valley 👋 🍁🍂

How is your season of transition going? Have you managed to shed the build up of heat accumulated over the summer?

Now that the weather has finally cooled off it's time to shift our diet & lifestyle practices over to more grounding, warming energies - but first we must release any excess fire. Otherwise, it burns us out and creates excessive dryness.

What are your Ritu-Charyas (seasonal routines) for this liminal period?

Goldenrod has such a special place in my heart. It was the first plant to inspire me. I remember vividly, foraging and blending my first spontaneous wild craft brew of tea. There was a patch of mint nearby and they tasted (&smelled) so delicious together. This year, I'm adding a little red clover from my home and a touch of lavender for good measure.

Wildflour Bakehouse will be selling a Cold Brew of my "Golden Glory" blend at the Hawley Farmer's Market this Friday (2-5). Make sure to grab some while you can - it's only being sold fresh this year!

Friends, I hope you're staying safe and well out there in this wild climate. I noticed my nose clogging up the other night and then the burning sensation the following day alerted me further. I've been very cautious about how I spend time outdoors this week and am grateful to have found a few masks lying around.

That being said - if you don't already use a Neti Pot, this would be a great time to start! It's a beautiful practice designed to cleanse the nasal passage on a daily basis. Confession - I don't get around to it all that often, but after a night around a campfire I pull the ol Neti Pot out and give my nasal passage a nice cleanse. It's the kindest thing I can do for my body and makes it so much easier for the body to remain in homeostasis.

Please do a little research and feel free to reach out with questions - things like purified water and adding the right amount of salt are essential!

Prayers to all the creatures being directly affected by the fire, may we do what we can as humans to ease their burdens as well...
