Astrid Hufnagel, Birth and Postpartum Doula Doula, Lactation, and Sleep Consulting Services in Montclair New Jersey and surrounding towns! I have a creative side, with a passion for photography.

When I had my son and became involved in the birth world I realized that I found a calling! This prompted a total career change from teaching in the public school system to working as a birth and postpartum doula. Working with families through their pregnancies and helping them embrace the new phase of life after birth brings me much joy and satisfaction! I also have a love for travel and exploring the outdoors. My experiences with my son have made me attune to the struggles one can endure in pregnancy, birth, and the post-partum period. I am a researcher at heart and am extremely resourceful. If I don’t know an answer, I am confident that with some time and research I can come back to a situation with various angles and options to help families navigate this new and exciting time in their lives. A birth doula provides emotional, physical and educational support to the mother and her partner before, during and after childbirth. Birthing a baby into the world is a time filled with amazement, awe, and a lot of unknowns. With my birth experience, unbiased ear and resourceful knowledge, I can guide you by offering insight and feedback to help you feel comfortable with any decisions you make as well as be a calm physical presence. The standard package includes one prenatal visit, labor support and one postnatal visit. This can be modified to fit your specific needs! Postpartum Doula Services

Bringing a new baby home can be overwhelming! As your postpartum doula, I will support your entire family in your home in whatever capacity is most needed. I can answer questions on newborn care, help with the first bath, answer questions on feeding your baby, assist you in wearing your infant in a newborn carrier, take care of your infant while you nap or shower, prepare light meals, run errands for you or with you, and perform some light housekeeping such as laundry and cleaning baby bottles.... plus so much more! The goal is for you to gain peace of mind and knowledge while also getting a chance to relax and have time to process the changes in your life!

Snuggling with this little one again today. She’s growing so fast so in addition to a bath, nail clipping, multiple diaper changes, bottles, naps, and laundry, we took all her newborn clothes out of her drawers and reorganized with the next size. A lot can get done in a daytime postpartum shift!
