What are you doing for lunch Thursday?
Join cancer survivor and retired captain of the San Francisco Fire Department Tony Stefani for a lunch & learn with the USGBC's Building Health Initiative. Tony is founder of the San Francisco Firefighters Cancer Prevention Foundation, a volunteer-run nonprofit that organizes cancer screenings and raises money for prevention. One of his latest projects includes a study of chemical exposures in female firefighters. Tony was recently featured in the HBO documentary "Toxic Hot Seat."
Tony will be joined by experts Jean Hansen and Judy Levin, who will discuss how, until recently, California law mandated toxic flame retardants in furniture despite controversy surrounding their actual efficacy at slowing fires. As of January 2014, and a new regulatory environment, healthier furniture with no-added flame retardants can be specified and purchased both commercially and residentially. Learn how you can take advantage at this event hosted by the USGBC's Building Health Initiative.
