To our Members, Friends, and Sisters,

With heavy hearts we are writing to inform everyone of the dissolution of the Midwives Alliance of North America (MANA). As of March 1st, 2024, MANA will be permanently sunsetted.

MANA has been a huge driving force in Midwifery, not only in the United States, but globally as well. MANA’s history is rich and will be missed in the midwifery community.

The current MANA Board has done its best to keep MANA relevant and functioning. However, we feel that MANA has run its course. There are newer organizations that have come into the midwifery community through MANA’s roots that are meeting the needs for continuing education and professional development.

The two main projects MANA has been holding are MANA statistics and membership with the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM).
The ICM council has been notified of the dissolution of MANA and our seats have been forfeited.

As for MANA statistics, it is absolutely thriving. The platform has been updated to accommodate the ALCOA standards for research, a midwife has been on the platform daily, and there are several researchers that have applied for research projects. In 2023, approximately 300 new users registered on the platform and 20,000 new forms were submitted. A new board has been established that will operate independently of MANA and manage the data collected and research requests. The new board will share information as they become established. The data will finally be used as it was intended and new studies will be published.

We humbly thank all those who have come before us and the countless hours that have been volunteered.
