A letter from Dr. Nachbar to his patients:
On July 5th, I reached my 41st anniversary at South Jersey Eye Physicians. In these many years, I've had the privilege to perform well over 200,000 exams on multi tens of thousands of patients. I’ve enjoyed my patients’ trust while performing more than 20,000 cataract, LASIK and other surgeries. I have many treasured relationships spanning the generations between present day adults, their children, grandchildren, parents and grandparents.
But the end of one journey marks the beginning of another. I have made the decision to retire from SJEYE while my health is still strong and my grandchildren still young, planning to enter a new phase of life where I should have more time to spend with my family and to pursue interests that demand free time I don’t currently have.
I trust that my colleague ophthalmologists and optometrists at SJEYE have the skills to manage your ongoing eye health issues. In addition, I'm pleased to announce that Dr. Mark Siden will be joining our medical staff of ophthalmologists in September. I expect that he will be seeing many of my existing patients in the future.
It has been a great honor and privilege to spend these many years caring for you and my other patients. I don’t know the words that express how much I appreciate the trust you placed in me. “Thank you” will need to suffice.
My current intention is to begin my retirement in two steps, beginning at the end of August, when my last patient examinations will be performed. My active practice of Ophthalmology concludes at the end of September, when my last cataract surgeries will be performed.
In a few weeks, it will mark the first Labor Day since kindergarten where I didn't return to school or work immediately after. That's a lot of Labor Days and a lot of labor; but all good things must come to an end and this end is mine.
I wish you all the best.
Most sincerely,
James G. Nachbar, M.D.
