✅ OPEN TO ALL SKILL LEVELS! Beginners are absolutely welcome.
🗓️ SEASON STARTS NEXT WEEK! Wrapping up a winter sport? No worries! We are accepting new players all the way into March. Make sure to reach out!
🫶 EVERYONE PLAYS! No experience? No gear? No problem! We’ll teach you everything you need to know and we have plenty of loaner equipment. Scholarships are also available—we will never turn a player away!

🥍 Spring 2026 Lacrosse Registration is OPEN on January 12, 2026!🥍

Morgantown Youth Lacrosse is ready to hit the field! We have several programs available for the upcoming spring season. Registration portals will be available Monday 1/12/26 at morgantownyouthlacrosse.secondslide.io!

🚨 Important Note: To ensure everyone is placed correctly, we will have separate registration portals for each league. Please double-check that you are selecting the correct gender and grade level button on the registration page before signing up!

🏆Morgantown Mohawks (Middle School)
Grades 6–8 | Boys: $185 | Girls: $150
Practices: Begin Feb 25 (3-4 Practices a Week) in Morgantown.
Games: Primarily Sunday Playdays (Home & Away).
Equipment: Game uniforms supplied. Loaner equipment is available. Practice jerseys can be purchased or loaned.

🔥Josh Burleson Leagues (Elementary)
Grades 2–5 Boys & Girls | $90 (All Players)
Schedule: Draft Day is March 14th! Monday league practices and Saturday morning games.
Location: All practices and games will be held in Morgantown (specific location TBA).
Equipment: Jersey is included in the registration fee, and loaner equipment is available.

👟Little Scoopers (Introductory Co-ed)
Grades K–1 | $50
Schedule: Late March through early May. Sessions are held once per week on Mondays evenings.
Location: Held in a Morgantown gymnasium (specific location TBA).
Equipment: All playing equipment is supplied for this age group!

Need to Know for All Programs:
- US Lacrosse Membership: For insurance purposes, a valid US Lacrosse membership is required for all players. US Lacrosse membership is good for one year and can be found at https://www.usalacrosse.com/membership.

- Scholarships: We believe every child should have the chance to play. Do not let cost deter you! Please reach out to us directly for information on our scholarship program.

- Schedules: Field and game schedules are currently being finalized and will be shared soon!

- Coffee at the Crease - Every Saturday from 10-1130am at Tank Field (Mountaineer Middle School) until March. Come try on equipment, play games, join in the fun! **Please park in the parking lot at the bottom of the gravel road to the field. Thank you!**

Building the Future of Morgantown Lacrosse: 2026 Season Launch! 🥍

Today, January 6th, we are officially kicking off our 2026 Season Fundraising Campaign. We choose this date each year to launch in memoriam of Josh Burleson—honoring a member of our lacrosse family by investing in the future of the game he loved.

Our goal this year is to ensure that Morgantown Youth Lacrosse remains the premier place for local athletes to grow, compete, and lead. To do that, we need your help to keep our sticks moving and our players safe.

GAME CHANGER! 🚨 A Huge Thank You to the Burleson Family!

Morgantown Youth Lacrosse is thrilled to announce a monumental step forward for our program. We are incredibly grateful for a very generous donation from the Burleson Family, which will directly impact our players this upcoming season.
Thanks to their support of the Josh Burleson Leagues & Little Scoopers, we are now able to outfit a large number of both boys and girls with essential program equipment! 🥍

What this means for you: We now have a robust equipment loaner program. Your player can borrow the necessary gear for the season and simply turn it back in at the end. This is a massive win for growing the sport in Morgantown and making lacrosse accessible to more families.

Check the Gear Guide: Please review the attached infographic to see the required checklist for field players and goalies. We have ensured all our new loaner gear meets the crucial safety standards highlighted in the guide (like the NOCSAE ND200 chest protection).

A Championship Legacy Continues: Meet Our New League Director, Zack Davis! 🥍🏆

​We are incredibly proud to announce that Zack Davis has stepped into the role of Director for The Josh Burleson Leagues!

Zack’s deep roots in Morgantown make him the perfect fit to lead our youth. A 2011 MHS and 2015 WVU grad, he has spent his life on our fields and in our rinks. Between playing for state champion lacrosse & hockey teams, and spending 20 years as a referee, Zack has a unique perspective on what makes Morgantown sports special.

Zack’s passion for lacrosse was forged at Morgantown High under Coach Thomas Moore, where he played alongside and for Josh Burleson. Josh, then a senior and later a coach for Zack, left a lasting mark on Zack as a leader who pushed his teammates & players to be better—someone who challenged you but was always the first to help you back up.

Zack is bringing that same "help you back up" spirit and a winning culture to our youth programs. Over the last three years, he has served as an assistant coach for the Morgantown Mohawks Boys Middle School team, helping lead them to an incredible 2025 season.

His mission is simple: to create a welcoming community where boys and girls in grades 2–5 can fall in love with lacrosse early, learn the right way, and carry on the legacy of sportsmanship that Josh Burleson embodied.

​Please join us in welcoming Zack Davis to this new role! We can’t wait to see the growth and energy he brings to our elementary programs!

💙 Captain. Champion. Coach. Friend. ❤️ More than a name on a jersey. He was the heart of our game. ❤️

Before the possibility of leagues for every age group, and before the trophies filled the cases, there was Josh Burleson.

Josh was a natural athlete and competitor. As a 4-year Varsity Defender and Long Stick Midfielder, he captained the inaugural 2008 West Virginia State Championship team. In the off-season he traded his stick for an MHS football helmet as the kicker and a trumpet in the Red & Blue Band, but the lacrosse field was always his home. He poured his soul into building the culture that made it possible to grow a game new to our state.

But accolades don’t tell you who a person is. Love does.

Josh loved this game, and he loved this town—all of it. He reached across rivalry lines, counting players from all over the state among his lifelong friends. In the off-season, you’d find him coaching boys and girls of all ages, Mohigans and Hawks, simply because he wanted to see kids fall in love with the sport the way he did.

He returned to MHS as a coach for four years, guiding teams to multiple state title games, but his legacy isn't in the wins. It’s in the people.

Every time a child picks up a ground ball in the Josh Burleson League, they are playing a game he helped build, in a community he helped unite.

Josh was a player's coach, a coach's player, and most importantly, he was our friend. We hope this league will be a living testament of what Josh wanted for everyone he met, growth and love.

Big News, Morgantown! Youth Lacrosse has officially leveled up in Morgantown! 🥍🔥🏞️

Welcome to The Josh Burleson Leagues—Morgantown's first-ever full equipment elementary-age lacrosse leagues, specifically for boys and girls in grades 2 through 5!

Real Gear, Real Games, and Real Growth! This is an exciting time where players put on the real gear and play real games. Honoring the legacy of Josh Burleson, these leagues are the heartbeat of our program, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Never played before? You are in the right place! We want to be clear: No experience is necessary. While the JBLs are the next step for our Scoopers, they are also the perfect starting line for new players. We are dedicated to teaching the game from the ground up, ensuring every child feels confident the moment they step on the field.

Introducing our Spring 2026 Little Scoopers program! This is about smiles, burning energy, getting sticks in hands, and keeping things affordable and accessible!

Don't worry, Mom and Dad—there's no body contact and no equipment required yet. We provide soft balls, adapted sticks and fun games like Castle Defense to teach the basics and have fun. It’s the perfect, low-pressure, once a week introduction to the fastest game on two feet.
