I love when science and biomechanics come together. He’s going to be a fun one to see develop.

What started as a mountain is now a molehill! My friend today found so much relief in his lower lumbar from his massage today. What was a pretty pronounced bump is much more settled with less tension. We also found he was compensating a lot on his left side to make up for a very weak right hind end support “system”. KT tape for support and hopefully some relief!

Massaged my own mare who has been battling some PPID/Cushings induced abscesses for too long of a while now. Her right front has been bearing the brunt of the work and it certainly showed. She appreciated the extra attention and stretching. They’re balancing so much weight up there and really do need all 4 legs to function. Let’s get better soon Sugar!

Sweet Piggy girl definitely had better circulation today. Her limbs were more uniformly warm and she had more s***k about her- even tried to get up a few times. I was able to massage both sides of her again and get her repositioned. Used more trigger point therapy as well. We’re rooting for you Momma!

If it has hooves, I’ll try to help! Momma piggy is due in about a week and can’t seem to get her hind end to cooperate. So glad I happened to be driving by when I got the call- definitely helped stimulate her circulation! Hopefully she feels much better soon!

As I predicted, Comotion was SO ready for his 2nd massage today. Apprehensive but inquisitive last time, when I arrived today he was prepared- offering releases before I even really got started- I think he’s a quick study! Owner reports a much more relaxed horse who seems to have unwound himself in his demeanor a wrap or two since last massage. This is my whole reason for my massage journey- to help horse and human harmony... especially those smart Arabian types!

Massage is also a great way to continually “check in” with your horse. Our friend, Sven, has been in a decent training program for an almost a month now. Through massage we found out about some areas that he needed help in, and were able to treat them as we progressed in his training. Today we did a head to toe recheck of his whole body to make sure there were no new areas of soreness as he’s using his body differently. We’re proud of how far he’s come in such a short time!

I don’t play favorites around here, but Sugar, my First Horse Ever (of 18 years!) is pretty special (and one eyed!) Shes been on my mind a lot lately- just not herself for a while, misstep here and there... and back to back same foot GNARLY coronet band abscesses. Through , I observed some muscle loss in that same shoulder and started scratching my head a little harder. Thankfully I have an AMAZING Vet that Knows The Things and she suggested we test her for ... better known as Disease. Some of the symptoms are immune suppression (abscesses) and muscle loss... and wouldn’t you know it, she came back within the range. We just started on today and will retest later on to see if this little pink pill will be her lifetime friend, but early detection is the key to a longer, happier life! She’s part so I’m fully demanding her to live till 45 at least! For the first time in MONTHS because of the abscesses, she GALLOPED IN TONIGHT!! My heart leaps with joy- here’s to getting you on the mend, my Sugar-Bun.

Today I got to meet a very intelligent, sensitive Arabian gelding who seemed much relived that I understood the intellectual types. We had a brief wuffing conversation, breathing into each others nostrils so that he could get the whole picture of what was really going on here and then he was happy to allow me in to see what’s going on under the hood. Upon initial observation I noticed that the toe of his left hind was a bit flatter than the right which led me to draw a lateral hypothesis about the state of his right shoulder. He was very supple in his left neck and shoulder as I began, but directed me to some spots in his left hindquarters to work on. As we began the right side my hypothesis was correct and he was tighter on his right neck and shoulder- which he was adorably animated about releasing. I’ve seen horses lick and chew but never lick their lips like a kid trying to get the last bit of brownie batter from the corners of his mouth! 😋 Too cute! The next time he’s massaged, I’ll bet this brainiac is all about relaxing and releasing!
