Most of the PTs I know (including me) just go by their first name. Although most of us are doctors, physical therapy tends to be a more laid back experience compared to other healthcare visits! I don’t need to wear my white coat or be called doctor to use my clinical brain and help you ❤️‍🩹

How does your body know if it’s a fart or 💩?

It’s called sampling! Your internal a**l sphincter responds to pressure changes and decides how much it needs to relax. Then you consciously can relax or contract your external a**l sphincter depending on the situation!

If you have trouble controlling your gas or BM you might benefit from pelvic floor PT! If you regularly have “accidents” you might need to work on external a**l sphincter control.

If you are ever tempted to push out a fart, you might regret that choice! IYKYK 🫠
