Sometimes relief comes from creating space. And this is one my favorite ways to help create space, alleviate tension and pain for the lower back and hips! 🦵🙌😊
When a client is lying supine, I may use gentle traction and assisted stretching through the legs to help release tension that’s pulling into the hips and lower back.
By lightly pulling and lengthening the legs, it can help:
✔ Decompress the low back
✔ Reduce hip tightness
✔ Improve mobility
✔ Calm guarding patterns in the body
✔ Create a deep sense of relief
The hips, hamstrings, glutes, and low back are all connected, so treating the chain often works better than chasing the pain.
This technique is gentle, relaxing, and effective—especially for clients who feel stiff, compressed, or tight from sitting, standing, or daily stress.
Sometimes the body just needs a little space to let go.
