How to check your insurance for Doula service coverage!

On the back of most insurance cards is a member/customer services phone number:

📱 Call that number!
🗣️ Follow the automated prompts to get to the coverage department
❓Ask the representative about your “Maternity Benefits” in specific- if you have doula coverage!

Miscarriage. Is. Birth.

We tend to skip this information because it is not a joyous or comfortable conversation.

It is common to prepare mentally and emotionally for live birth. If you find out you are experiencing a loss- it is just as important an honorable to prepare your mind and body for that birth, too.🤍

There is no way to fully prepare yourself for birth ever, period. However; ensuring you have the proper support to help you know your options and manage them appropriately for your personal circumstances is important❕

Ultimately, attempting to minimize or eliminate any surprise or trauma throughout the experience.

You can discuss the options listed with your birth team, and decide what is the best choice for you. Knowing that there is absolutely no right or wrong decision in this process when you are making an informed and confident decision. 🫶🏼

Here’s the “5-1-1” 🙌🏼

When do I contact my birth team? You might hear this “rule” being thrown around and have no idea what it means.

When your contractions are 👇🏼

•5 minutes apart

•Lasting about a minute

•For around an hour

Give your birth team a call 🫶🏼

❕DO NOT let this rule override your instincts ❕

If you get a nudge to contact them sooner for any reason, Give them a call! That’s what they are they for. ⭐️

Helpful tip: Use a contraction timer app to help you track those contractions!

❕❕Do not fear birth ❕❕

If someone or something in your life is causing you to fear your birth…
Tune 👏🏼 that 👏🏼 noise 👏🏼 out 👏🏼 !!!

There are so many resources available for you to gain positive insight and lead you into a fear free birth, however that looks like for YOU.

The most valuable experience I had in pregnancy was when I was getting towards the end, and being faced with induction I told my provider, “I don’t understand why I am being told to be induced and I don’t want to be.”

My provider looked me straight in the face and said, “Then don’t”.

Period. End of story!

We went on to discuss safe and healthy options specific for me and my pregnancy. Get yourself a team that supports you in a positive birthing experience, hears you, and informs you of all your options!
