Our Story
Thanks for your interest in the MCH Facts page! You are vital to our success and we are grateful for your likes and shares because it helps us provide our community with facts.
Some of you have wondered who is posting this information. The Morrow County Hospital Board of Trustees, a panel of local leaders who are volunteers, is responsible for the creation of the site and for guiding its content. Our primary goal is to provide you with facts, but some of the postings you will see will be told from the perspective of patients who have benefited from the hospital’s services. These human-interest stories will be easy to identify, because they will feature the patient’s story, primarily in their own words, and may contain the patient’s opinions and observations.
Health care has changed profoundly since the hospital was built in 1952. Across the nation, small hospitals like Morrow County have felt the pinch. As of January 15, 2020, 120 small hospitals had closed in the last ten years. (Click here: https://www.beckershospitalreview.com/finance/state-by-state-breakdown-of-120-rural-hospital-closures.htmlfor a list). As these hospitals were closing, Morrow County Hospital’s trustees were making tough decisions about what services had to be cut in order to keep the hospital open.
We would all like to be able to go back to a better time when more services were available, but if we had not changed, it’s likely that we would not be here today. We want you to know that we agonized over these decisions. As we made them, we knew some would not be popular.
