The theme for our yoga class this week is the feet! Our feet perform so many tasks, and it’s very common for us to not give them a lot of attention, unless they are injured or in pain. Did you know that your feet can help hold the key to your overall health? Simply applying pressure to certain areas of your feet can send messages to specific organs of the body, that correlate with specific nerve endings in your feet.
In traditional Chinese medicine, the neural pathways that send these messages from those pressure points to the organs are called meridians, and when you apply pressure in these areas, such as foot massage, the signals are sent along these pathways that literally help to stimulate these organs to do their job properly!
In our practice this week, we will get into a couple of different ways to massage the bottoms of our feet, such as with the use of tennis balls, work on some foot stretches, and build some strength in our feet during our standing postures. Your feet will thank you for joining this class!
