Can you believe this?

Last week I traveled to Minneapolis to meet one of my horticultural therapy classmates from UTK for the very first time. Together, we had the opportunity to shadow Cindy—a horticultural therapist with over 30 years of experience.

Over the course of several days, we worked with a variety of groups: women living with severe and persistent mental illness, people in transitional housing, and seniors in memory care. Each setting offered its own unique lessons and moments of beauty.

One story in particular has stayed with me.

At a senior center, we gathered in their enclosed garden space. Some participants came on their own, others were wheeled in. One woman arrived looking lost and deeply puzzled, unsure of where she was or why she was there. But then came the basil.

The moment she smelled and tasted its leaves, her entire expression transformed—her face lit up with recognition. She remembered running barefoot through her father’s garden, recalling how he let the children pick any herbs or vegetables they wanted, as long as they promised to try them.

It was such a powerful reminder of how something as simple as the scent of a plant can open doors to memory, joy, and connection.

I realized, in that moment, that this is exactly what I want to do with the next chapter of my life.

So—change is coming. A new business name. More classes. More opportunities to share this work.

One thing remains certain: plants have an extraordinary power to help us relax, connect, and restore.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll keep saying it—Plants Make People Grow. 🌿

Even when planted at the same time, every seed grows at its own pace. 🌱

Some sprout quickly, reaching for the sun in days, while others take their time, building quiet strength below the soil. Your journey is no different—trust the timing, and keep nurturing your growth. 🌸'

My peace lily doesn't bloom every day. It sits quietly for weeks, even months, being still.

Do you ever feel like this?

Right now you might not be blooming, but you still are becoming. Even when you feel unseen or unsure, you are still alive with purpose, taking in light in ways no one else can see.

Every plant has its own pace, its own way of thriving. And so do you.

You matter. You’re growing. Keep going.

🌿How to Expense Those Plants at Work 🌿

Ever slipped a plant onto your expense report and called it “office ambiance enhancement”? No shame here—studies show plants boost productivity, and reduce stress effectively making spreadsheets more tolerable.

So go ahead, ask your boss if you can expense that pothos. It's technically for work. 😉

About Us

Dear Plant Friends + Family:

This pandemic hit me, like many of you, in a real weird way.

Long story short: I turned to my house plants and found MY PLANTS BROUGHT ME BACK TO LIFE.

Before, I bought most of my plants at big box stores and most of them lived about a month. Having the time on my hands, I started doing a lot of research. Not only in today's fads, but also those of yesteryear. I've found some similar themes, I tested them out, and voila! I've figured out a very unscientific way to classify plants as "easy to love + hard to kill."
