This past Friday, WakeUp Carolina was honored to join agencies and fellow nonprofit organizations at the Berkeley County Government’s Opioid Awareness Day event.

We’re deeply grateful to Berkeley County Government for entrusting us as a recipient of the Berkeley County's South Carolina Opioid Relief Fund. This support enables us to:

-Continue serving individuals and families impacted by substance use
-Expand programs like our Veterans Support Group: Serving Those Who Served
-Distribute harm-reduction resources, including Narcan and fentanyl & xylazine test strips
-and ensure that we keep our promise, that no person and no family will ever have to take this walk alone

If you would like to learn more about our support groups and the times and days they meet, visit:

As we close out our Recovery Month video series, we hear from Berkeley County Coronber Darnell Hartwell. He sees the devastating impact of fatal overdoses firsthand — but he also sees something else: hope.

Hope in the families and individuals who choose recovery. Hope in the services and support offered throughout our community. And hope in the partnerships formed when organizations stand together, side by side, to bring change and healing.

Community deserves its own recovery.

Our Recovery Month video series continues with a focus on the importance of community.

The residents of Berkeley County have strong advocates in Supervisor Cribb and the entire County Council, who have entrusted WakeUp Carolina with funds from the SC Opioid Relief Fund. With their support, we can continue building programs that serve individuals, families, and veterans impacted by substances.

We are truly honored for the opportunity to serve the people of Berkeley County.

There are so many who gave their time, talent, and treasures to make the 2nd Annual Berkeley County Light the Way for Hope a truly memorable evening.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the family and friends who entrusted us with their stories of loved ones lost to a substance.

We honor you—your courage, your love, and the grief you continue to carry—and we are humbled that you chose to share that sacred space with us.

Our doors are always open for a conversation, a cup of coffee or just a place to take a breath.

Hear a father’s perspective on the reality that addiction impacts the entire family, not just the individual. He reflects on how, even as his adult son works through recovery, the family must also find its own path to healing and growth. His message is one of honesty, hope, and the importance of walking the recovery journey together.
