👁️ 3 Types of Macular Degeneration You Should Know

1️⃣ Dry AMD – The most common type. Vision slowly blurs as the macula thins and tiny deposits called drusen form. Lifestyle changes and supplements may help slow progression.

2️⃣ Wet AMD – Less common but more severe. Abnormal blood vessels leak fluid or blood, causing rapid central vision loss. Treatments like injections can help preserve sight.

3️⃣ Juvenile AMD – Rare, genetic forms affecting children or young adults. Central vision loss can occur early in life. Low-vision aids and genetic counseling can help.

💡 Tip: Early detection is key! If you notice changes in your central vision, schedule an eye exam today.

👁️ Why the Amsler Grid is Crucial for Macular Degeneration Patients

The Amsler Grid is a simple, home-based tool that helps detect early changes in your central vision—the area most affected by macular degeneration.

✅ Why it matters:

Spots, wavy lines, or missing areas on the grid can signal changes in the macula before you notice vision loss.

Early detection of progression, especially for wet AMD, can allow timely treatment to protect your sight.

Quick and easy to use at home, usually once a day per eye.

💡 Tip: Keep an Amsler Grid handy, and if you notice any changes, call your eye doctor immediately!
