Just a reminder to be kind to everyone this Halloween. 👻🎃

Be kind to the child who can’t say “trick or treat”.

Be kind to the adult in a Superman costume.

Be kind to the little girl who doesn’t say “thank you”.

Be kind to the child who doesn’t understand he’s not supposed to go inside your house.

Be kind to the child who’s not wearing a costume.

Be kind to the little boy who speaks very loudly.

While you may think these behaviors are due to rudeness, often they’re caused by an invisible disability or simply shyness.

To put it into perspective, Halloween is one day a year. You get to make many kids and adults happy just by giving a few pieces of candy. I say that’s a pretty good deal 😊👻🎃 📸 awareness

September is National Preparedness Month! The purpose is to raise community awareness on the importance of proactively preparing for disasters and emergencies.

The Midland County Department of Public Health is encouraging community members to take small steps throughout the month to make a big impact on long-term individual, family, and household preparedness.

To assist community members, a “Take Action Calendar” 📆 was created. This calendar provides simple, yet meaningful actions that can be done throughout the month to promote preparedness.

Here are some things you can do at home during Neighboring Week to take action and be more prepared in case of an emergency:

09/24 - Exchange phone ☎️ numbers with your neighbor(s) in case of an emergency.
09/25 - Talk with household and non-household family members or friends about any mobility challenges during an emergency.
09/26 - Share your “Take Action” preparedness journey with a friend.
09/27 - Donate to a community food bank!
09/28 - Plan for emergency response at work, school, and/or other community gathering location(s).
09/29 - Get involved with a helping organization in the community!
09/30 - Revisit your household emergency plan and add or update as needed. Commit to keep the momentum going!

It’s important to remember that Valentine’s Day is just one day of the year, and it’s not a measure of your self-worth. Love yourself unconditionally and remember to celebrate the love you have for yourself every day, not just on this occasion.

In conclusion, Valentine’s Day can be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate self-love and appreciate the people and things that bring joy to our lives. By taking the time to spend with yourself, connect with others, and engage in acts of kindness, you can avoid feelings of loneliness and make the most of this day.

Dating services, whether online or “real life,” can lead to more than romantic encounters. Dating businesses – particularly online dating services – come with risks and can lead to heartache, financial ruin — and even unwitting criminal activity.

Risks consumers should be aware of:

Financial risks – being scammed out of your financial resources, becoming a victim of identity theft, or being saddled with an expensive contract that does not provide results and cannot be cancelled, which can lead to collection efforts and negative information that affects your credit report and credit score.
Security and safety risks – becoming a victim of stalking, assault, or s*xual assault if your personal information is misused by other dating service members, company employees, or others who gain access to information about you. Many free dating apps do not screen whether users are registered s*x offenders.
Privacy risks – becoming a victim of identity theft or having your personal information made available to a wider audience than you expect, such as your co-workers or family members.
Criminal activity risks — scammers exploit fake relationships to turn victims into unwitting criminal accomplices to fraud, known as “money mules.”
