If asked what took place on Good Friday, many people could list the events that took place at Calvary.
Christ was nailed to the cross ✝️. Roman soldiers gambled for his garments, and darkness covered the land. But far more was going on than eyes could see. At the cross, sin was judged.
In the Garden of Eden, God warned Adam and Eve that disobedience carried a severe penalty.
Genesis 2:17 but the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou latest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Why would God place a tree in the Garden and then forbid Adam to eat from it? God wanted Adam to obey Him, but God gave Adam the freedom to choose. Without this freedom, Adam would have been like a prisoner, and his obedience would have been hollow.
So from the VERY beginning, His judgment of sin was prophesied, and later it was also pictured in the sacrificial system of the Old Testament. Under that system, each transgression required an animal's blood to be sprinkled on the altar. The severity of the penalty - loss of a life - was a graphic way for our Holy God to communicate how offensive and grievous sin is. It was a foreshadowing of the Lamb of God, who would come to pay for the sin of the world.
John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
On the cross, Jesus Christ was what a lamb was on the altar - but with a significant difference: Under the old covenant, every time sin was committed, another innocent animal had to die.
Jesus, however, willingly offered Himself once for all to atone for the sin of the whole world.
Hebrews 7:27 Who needed not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for then people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.
I personally can't Thank Jesus enough, I will every day until I see Him face to face. I think about what He went through for me, every day. It's hard to imagine someone loving you that much, but He does. I can PROMISE you this His Love is the greatest Love you'll ever know.
Its not complicated. If you SINCERELY believe in your heart and profess that Jesus Christ died for your sins and is the risen Lord, you will be saved. Wherever you are at. No fancy prayers.
Romans 10:9 that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead , thou shalt be saved.
