Today’s throwback is relevant because today is our annual Enabling All program with all local 5th graders. Today is Part 1, in-classroom instruction. Part 2, all the 5th graders will meet TASP on the snow. This program has been around 20+ years and has reached every 5th grader living in Telluride. One of the most beneficial parts of this program is the dedicated time for students to ask as many questions as they want.

Kat wears a lot of hats. Barista. Yoga instructor. And this winter, ski instructor at TASP.

She’s new to the program, but already someone we rely on and deeply value. Kat shows up with patience, curiosity, and a steady presence that athletes immediately respond to. She notices the small wins. She understands that progress doesn’t always look the same day to day… and that’s kind of the point.

“I love winter at TASP because every day is a new adventure,” she says. “It’s such a privilege to watch our athletes improve, and of course they never fail to make me laugh.”

We are grateful for this community and the instructors that show up every day!

Meet Alison! She first joined TASP at Women’s Camp last year and loved it so much, she’s back again this week.

“Winter at TASP is special to me for a lot of reasons. The instructors are so knowledgeable and so helpful and also just have such a positive, enthusiastic energy. It makes the day skiing with them an absolute blast. Add on top of that you have these absolutely beautiful mountain views and amazing snow and it’s a pretty unreal experience.”

This year, Alison was selected for a scholarship to train to become a ski instructor herself!

We’re so proud to celebrate Ali, recently named a January Change Maker and Athlete of the Month by Special Olympics Colorado. Ali’s dedication to sport, her love of learning, and the way she shows up for her teammates embody what it means to be a leader in our community. Dan Noel Bergstrom was a valuable and long time volunteer and instructor for TASP. He also established the Miner School at Telluride High School-a program providing student internship experiences with local businesses and organizations. Recently, TASP and the Miner School students came together in honor of Dan to unite both programs that Dan dedicated so much of time and heart towards.

Andrew has been skiing with TASP since 2016. He loves his lessons and the instructors who make every day fun, supportive, and confidence-building, while also giving him the space to feel independent and at ease. What Andrew values most is that it never feels like a lesson but it feels like spending the day with friends. After each TASP ski day, he comes home saying, “It was another amazing day out there.” We’re so grateful to have Andrew as part of the TASP family.

Tony also made a shoutout to volunteer, Zack, for his encouragement to Holly, helping carry the ramp all along the super loop, and for preventing potential collisions.
