Welcome to HOPE for me, LLC where we specialize in chronic neurological conditions. Our Founder/Director Kathy Buell has been professionally involved in epilepsy in different capacities for 40 years, including 10 years on the Board of Directors for Epilepsy Services of East Central Indiana. Kathy has made Pinellas County Florida her home for 24 years. Florida has enabled her to maintain a life-long desire and history of working in the field of Social Work. She remains actively involved with various populations, programs and causes that impact our environment, communities and quality of life. Kathy's Master of Social Work degree is from the University of South Florida. While studying Clinical Social Work, Kathy worked with a respected Epileptologist and the Neurology Department of a Tampa hospital. There she designed and implemented research on: “Quality of life and long term video EEG monitoring" while counseling individuals who were experiencing seizures and their families. Kathy is excited to have expanded to private practice allowing her to offer alternative methods in helping individuals reach their highest quality of life and full potential. Originally from Indiana, Kathy graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and Counseling Psychology. She has always valued helping individuals recognize their unique gifts they give to our society. At the age of 16, Kathy began her journey serving on the Board of Directors for Epilepsy Services of East Central Indiana, serving 10 years. Prior to college, Kathy was surgically relieved of epilepsy by a world-renowned Epileptologist and his highly skilled team at The Cleveland Clinic. She has remained free of seizures and medication. Kathy graciously donated the effected part of her brain to medical research hoping researchers would discover more treatment options for those who courageously continue to struggle with life-threatening seizures. Excitingly, they have and continue to do so. Although seizures and medication remain in her history, epilepsy advocacy & support remains a very important part of who she is. Studies reflect time and time again, that people with chronic neurological diseases have unique psychosocial needs. After years of listening to and counseling individuals who are touched by these diseases, their families and professionals who are committed to making a difference in their quality of lives, HOPE for me, LLC was founded.
