Why box squats?π
Well itβs a safe and easy way to start overloading your body. It allows for your body to get prepared to handle heavier weight loads to help increase your squat max.ππ»ββοΈ
Initially itβs less tension and stress on the knees as well. I get knee pain occasionally from wrestling and high impact sportsπ₯². Back squats take a lot of load off the quadriceps which lessens the load on the knee joint and distributes the weight more so to your posterior chain.ππΌ
Intentionally, in this particular back squat I set my feet closer to the box and sat on to the box. This allowed me to focus on handling overload in my erectors, increase explosiveness for at the bottom of my squat, and hip extensors strength for a better lockout at the top of my squat.ππΌ
Give them a try on your next leg day, if your an advanced lifter, donβt be afraid to go heavy!!ππΌ
