Exciting News for Rutherford County!

On August 27, officials gathered to break ground on the Rutherford County Regional Forensic Center, a long-awaited $15 million facility that will bring local autopsy services to our community!

📍 Located off Weakley Lane in North Smyrna, this cutting-edge center is expected to open by spring or summer of 2027 and will provide faster, more efficient forensic services—benefiting families, law enforcement, and surrounding counties.

A huge congratulations to everyone who helped bring this vision to life, including Commissioner Carl Boyd, Chairman Pettus Read, County Mayor Joe Carr, and retired EMS Director Carl Hudgens, whose vision began over 30 years ago. This is a proud moment not just for Smyrna, but for all of Rutherford County and Middle Tennessee!

As Hudgens put it: “Basically, it’s Rutherford County first in my vision.” And with this project, that vision is becoming a reality.
