Transportation is a huge problem for Neighbors in our community. 🚗

Without it, job opportunities are limited to whatever is within walking distance.

Since the best jobs are often not located in the same neighborhoods where transportation is an issue, many find themselves stuck in the cycle of poverty without options to better their financial situation. 😣

Bikes from Love INC's Bike Ministry provide Neighbors with the opportunity to break that cycle! 💙

As we reflect on The Civil Rights Movement and how Dr. Kings vision has shaped America, we believe it's important to look at the barriers to employment POC with disabilities face IN ADDITION to race discrimination. Our statics say it all when it comes to the barriers faced in employment for people of color.

In early 2024, the employment rate for people with disabilities was 37%, compared to 75% for those without, with even larger gaps for POC with disabilities, facing systemic barriers like racism and ableism. (* US Dept of Labor)

Black Individuals experienced smaller post-pandemic labor market gains than white individuals, with an employment-to-population ratio around 23.2% (April 2021-March 2022), significantly lower than non-Hispanic whites (34.3%).

We can all do our part to help achieve Dr. Kings vision of inclusivity and equal rights in America. We are only as strong as how we treat our most vulnerable.
