That feeling of being “frozen” during anxiety often starts earlier than we realize. When something triggers you, the brain can activate its internal alarm system, the same system designed to respond to threats.

Once activated, this can lead to anxiety, and in some cases, a freeze response, where thinking becomes unclear and feels very slow, and it feels harder to move or take action.

This is not a reflection of you; it’s your brain trying to protect you the best way it knows how. Being aware of this will help you understand what's actually happening inside your mind and distinguish between reality and anxiety.

When something feels off in a relationship, the mind doesn’t like the uncertainty. It starts trying to fill in the gaps, often with assumptions that feel real in the moment but aren’t necessarily accurate.

That’s when a lot of anxiety can build, not from what actually happened, but from what we start to believe. The gaps the mind fills in aren't necessarily the truth or based on fact.

That's why a simple check-in, message, or call can bring perspective back into the situation. So then, we're finally dealing with facts, not fiction, and anxiety can take a back seat.

Don't forget to leave comments and questions if you have any!

Instead of thinking anxiety means you’re weak, try looking at it this way instead... your mind is trying to prepare you for something it doesn’t fully understand yet.

It starts anticipating outcomes, running scenarios, and scanning for risk. That’s why sometimes it feels so intense, like your thoughts are moving way faster than you can control them. But it's just the brain processing the situation and figuring out what is the safest scenario for you. Problems arise when you start turning that anxious feeling into a judgment about yourself. When you start thinking that the anxiety you're feeling means there's something wrong with you or that somehow you're being weak

Just being aware that the brain is trying to protect you and that your anxious thoughts have got nothing to do with who you are, can help you deal with anxiety. Save this for the next time anxiety sets in, and follow me for more!

Even in quiet places, your mind can still sound very loud. A lot of overthinking comes from not having the full picture, so your mind loves to fill in the gaps. Even if it's not exactly true, that’s often where anxiety begins.

Sometimes it’s not about stopping the thoughts…It’s about not turning them into facts.

Remember this next time you catch yourself overthinking!

A lot of anxiety comes from not having the full picture. When your brain doesn’t have all the information, it fills in the gaps, and that’s where overthinking starts!

It doesn’t mean something is wrong.

Sometimes you just don’t have the full picture yet...

A lot of people assume anxiety means something is wrong, or that it reflects weakness, but that’s definitely not true.

Many strong, thoughtful, intelligent people experience anxiety because their minds are constantly processing and anticipating.

Feeling anxious doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means your brain is active, alive and well. The essential part is learning how to respond to the anxiety, that is how you gain back your power.

A lot of people don’t realize this…
Perfectionism isn’t helping you; it’s only creating pressure, and that pressure is what turns into anxiety.

Sometimes the fastest way forward is simply choosing progress over perfection.

Save this for those days when perfectionism has you stuck instead of moving forward.

Feeling overwhelmed or like everything is out of control? Ask yourself this:
“What is one small thing I can control right now?”

Not everything. Just one thing. Because when life feels chaotic, your brain starts searching for stability. It tries to regain control by thinking through every outcome…and that’s when the anxiety builds.

Not because something is wrong with you, but because your brain is trying to find safety and stability. One small action can interrupt that anxiety spiral. It signals to your brain: Hey, you’re okay.

Save this for the next time everything feels like too much.

That inner critic always wants stronger, faster, flawless, and it's simply exhausting trying to keep it satisfied. Turn the volume down on your inner critic; instead, speak to yourself like your best friend: You’re doing enough. One step at a time. Save or share this with someone who needs it, and tell us one small step you’ll take today to take the internal pressure off!

One of the biggest triggers of anxiety is uncertainty.

When our brain doesn’t know what’s coming next, it starts trying to predict every possible outcome; usually the worst ones.

Suddenly the mind is racing, and it feels like something is wrong.

But often nothing is actually wrong.

Your brain is simply trying to protect you by predicting what could happen. So remember, it’s a prediction. It’s not a reality.

You can help yourself by asking:

“What do I actually know for certain right now?”

That question brings your mind back to the present moment - back to reality.

And that’s when calm usually starts to return.

If uncertainty tends to trigger anxiety for you, I hope this little reminder helps. 💖✨

When anxiety appears, most people immediately think “What’s wrong with me?” But anxiety rarely appears out of nowhere. It usually begins with a trigger your nervous system is trying to interpret and prepare for.
In this post, I’m breaking down 3 hidden triggers of anxiety that quietly shape how your body reacts:
* Uncertainty - when your mind can’t predict what’s coming next
* Feeling out of control - when life feels chaotic or overwhelming
* Internal pressure - when you expect yourself to handle everything perfectly
Anxiety isn’t a personal flaw.
It’s your brain trying to keep you safe.
All month long, I’m sharing a grounded, neuroscience-backed series on anxiety; what causes it, how it shows up in the body, and how to work with your nervous system instead of fighting it.
Follow along if you want to understand your anxiety with more understanding, self-compassion, and control.
