Talk about a full circle moment 💫 When we moved to the Outer Banks 15 years ago, the first place I worked here in the OBX and taught Zumba at was right in this very room! I’ve been teaching yoga and Pilates at the Y again this past year and when the opportunity to add a dance fitness class to my schedule came up, I was happy to do so! Choreographing dances and sharing in the energy of the music in a group setting brings my heart and soul so much joy! As much as I enjoy the freedom to “just be” a student and not the instructor, there is an inner child part of myself that is living the life she always wanted to live through choreographing dances and sharing in that with you. Seriously, I used to obsess over songs and dance for hours on end. I mean, I had a dance for each song of the Dirty Dancing soundtrack and that’s not even the tip of the iceberg. Let’s not even get into my Richard Simmons obsession! That little girl would be very proud of me!
While this is a dance fitness class and we will BURN 🔥 energy, there are so many layers to teaching this style of dance. It’s for everybody, any level and we show up for any reason. For me, sometimes that reason is just to release and let go. To take an hour and forget about the troubles of the world and just BE and to have FUN! I find deep energetic healing in dance and that is one of the many reasons it is a part of my life. Whatever your reason for showing up is, I love being here for YOU am proud of you for saying YES! to YOU!
