The formula shortage we’re experiencing right now is scary, and our hearts are with all the parents that are struggling to find formula to feed their babies. If you are unable to find formula, here are some places that may have some:

- WIC/pediatrician’s/CNM/OBGYN offices
- Pharmacies
- Smaller stores/reputable online distributors

Most healthy infants, especially those over 6 months old, can switch formula type. Store brands are often easier to find.

Do not stockpile, but keep enough supply for 7-10 days.

Ask your formula feeding friends if they are in need and grab a can when you are out shopping.

It is never safe to make your on formula or to dilute the formula you have.

The peanut ball! One of our favorite tools to use in labor and birth, the peanut has been studied and shown to reduce labor times in women who use it. There are several different ways to use a peanut ball, but today I’m going to show the most common two: side lying with the ball between the knees, and side lying closed knees with the ball between the ankles.

The miles circuit, part 3. Exaggerated side lying is the third part of the circuit. This position is usually comfortable and can be used for sleeping at night as well. Be sure to alternate sides to keep your pelvis symmetrical. We were a little short on pillows, but at home, the more pillows, the better!

The miles circuit, part 2. One of our OBGYNs, Dr. Megan Kasper, joined us today to help show the knee chest position. This move can be uncomfortable for some women, but can really help lengthen the ligaments within the pelvis. Always use caution with this maneuver if you have high blood pressure and check with your provider before trying it.

The miles circuit - a series of movements/positions to help facilitate fetal descent and rotation. It can be useful prenatally at term (37 weeks’ or greater) and in labor. Today we are discussing 1 of the 3 moves - curb walking

The side-lying release stretch from helps create more space in the pelvis and give baby more room. It’s something that should always be done with a spotter for safety. And can be done daily from 20 weeks’ gestation onwards. It’s also helpful during labor with the guidance of your birth team. This stretch is not recommended for this with severe p***c symphysis discomfort or hypermobility

We had such a great day at our workshop! One of our OBs - Dr. Mel Arnold is seen “jiggling”/myofascial release Kathy. We learned all kinds of ways to create space for babies and had a wonderful day time spending the day with so many birth workers in our community.
