We are saddened by the loss of Diane Keaton, who was known for her brilliance on screen. But what you may not know is that she was a skin cancer warrior who was vigilant about protecting her skin.

Diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma in her 20s and squamous cell carcinoma in her 40s, Keaton turned her signature style into something more than fashion. Her iconic hats, gloves and layers weren’t just a look, they were sun protection.

In a 2015 interview with the Los Angeles Times, she shared that she began covering up to protect her skin, saying, “Back in my 20s I didn’t pay attention much… I didn’t research and didn’t really care and that was stupid because it’s dogged me my entire adult life, even recently.”

Keaton later said she always carried SPF 50 with her. A simple reminder that sun safety never goes out of style or out of season.

We’ve been onsite with Pinellas County Schools these past few days and are proud to share that in 2025 alone, we’ve seen over 800 patients, identifying over 180 precancers and skin cancers combined.

Firefighters face more than flames, they face an increased risk of skin cancer.

Regular exposure to carcinogens in smoke, soot, and contaminated gear makes skin cancer a hidden but serious threat among first responders.

At OnSpot Dermatology, we’re proud to provide onsite skin cancer screenings to fire departments across Florida, helping detect and treat cancers early, before they become life-threatening.

Our impact so far:
- 12 departments visited
- 461 skin cancer screenings
- 150 pre-cancers treated
- 22 cancers treated
- 4 melanomas treated
