I am a non-profit organization and rely on help by good animal loving people like you. Welcome to our page where we are dedicated to saving and caring for feral felines in our community through the power of education and the practice of TNR. My name is Rusti, and I have built a little bit of kitty heaven. I am dedicated to saving as many ferals as I can and am passionate about educating others on how to combat the astronomical numbers of feral cats world wide ! I release most ferals I trap but will keep all kittens, pregnant mommas and sick or injured kits. The kits I have at my facility now are ones that never left once released or have a lower survival rate in the swamp, so I have integrated them into my existing colony. It's hard work and it's not cheap, but I do what I can with what I've got. Almond Joy ~
My sweet boy is having his dental today. Normally, that's not a huge concern, but if you saw my post the other day, A.J. was diagnosed with a strong heart murmur. Going under anesthesia with this condition is a big deal. He had his echocardiogram done and it was determined that ' at this time ' it would be generally safe to go ahead with the surgery. Still.... I am a nervous wreck. I also brought my senior boy Dingus in. He is losing his hair and almost completely bald on one side!! As you know, Dingus is the last remaining kit of the original EMC family. I am asking that you please keep them both in your thoughts & purrrayers today.

I lived up north for many years and would always worry about the animals and provide copious amounts of boxes and styrofoam coolers for them ! What do those of you who have strays or ferals do for them during blizzard conditions ? Bring them in ? Shelters ? Brrrrr....... 😼

What a wonderful joy this video was to capture my beautiful girl pistachio. She is so quirky and animated and just recently had all her teeth removed. Despite all that she is so playful and so loving. I hope you all enjoy her as much as I do. 😸❤️

Onilee Update ~ 🐈‍⬛

Yesterday was the first day Onilee was let out of isolation.
She spent several weeks in the bathroom recovering from her eye surgery. If you missed the first couple of posts about her, she suffered a severe eye injury, and sadly the eye could not be saved. This amazing girl came to me already traumatized. It took almost a year for her to come out of my bedroom and join the other kits in the house. This surgery set her back a bit, but you know me. I have doted on her and let her take her time. I am happy to report that she is blending back in slowly..... which is HUGE for her ! Due to her fur color & pattern, you really can't even tell she is missing an eye unless you get up close. ( I wish I could do that with my wrinkles ) 😼
Thank you all for the purrrayers. She is doing great, and I feel she will be back to normal pretty soon.

NANNER ~ 🐈

Many of you have asked me over the last couple of weeks how Nanner is doing ?? Thank you for keeping him in your thoughts. This beat up old man is hanging in there !! I still can't touch him. He darts away if I even approach his enclosure. I noticed about a month ago that he had a bloody chin. He is by himself. so I know it wasn't fight related. I can't imagine how he would have injured himself but I started putting antibiotics in his food. The area looks much better but at some point I am going to have to set the trap up and take him in to be checked out to make sure it's not something worse. But for now, he seems content. I would think he would love not having to hunt and fight for food. He doesn't have to worry about staying dry during rain storms or keeping warm on cold nights. He might miss the swamp, but he was always so beat up and scrappy looking, and I am much happier that he isn't constantly living with survival stress. I think he looks quite proper in this picture, don't you ?? 😼

Hello furiends. So sorry for the late post. My internet was out for about 12 hours !!
So I created this artwork and was inspired by the late and dear TuggerBum. One of the very first times I ever saw the Bum, he was deep in the swamp by my pond chasing a black racer snake. Racers are good snakes to have around b/c they chase off the Rattlers, so I was happy it got away.... but we do have these ginormous pythons all over the swamp so I am always cautious on my walkabouts.
